Ducati Corse has officially confirmed one of the biggest rider transfers in recent MotoGP history, announcing that Pedro Acosta will join the Ducati Lenovo Team from the 2027 season on a two-year contract.
The highly rated Spaniard will leave his current team at the end of the 2026 campaign to ride the factory Desmosedici GP, partnering eight-time world champion Marc Marquez in what is expected to be one of the strongest rider line-ups on the MotoGP grid.
The signing underlines Ducati’s long-term commitment to investing in young talent while continuing its pursuit of success in the premier class. Acosta has long been regarded as one of the brightest stars in motorcycle racing, having claimed both the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championships within just three seasons of making his Grand Prix debut.
Since stepping into MotoGP, the 22-year-old has continued to impress. He was crowned Rookie of the Year in 2024 before finishing fourth in the 2025 championship standings, collecting 13 podium finishes and establishing himself as one of the fastest riders in the paddock.

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali described Acosta as the perfect rider to help shape the manufacturer’s future in MotoGP.
“Pedro is undoubtedly one of the most talented young riders in the MotoGP paddock. At just 22 years old, he is the kind of rider with whom a new and exciting chapter can be written,” said Domenicali.
“We have always admired him and followed his progress closely, not only because of what he has achieved on track but also because of his personality. We are confident that Ducatisti around the world will quickly embrace him once he is dressed in red.”
Domenicali also believes Acosta’s arrival will perfectly complement Marc Marquez as Ducati aims to maintain its position at the front of MotoGP.
“We believe that, alongside Marc, he represents the ideal combination for a team that wants to continue building on its recent success and remain a benchmark in MotoGP.”

Ducati Corse General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna echoed those sentiments, explaining that Acosta’s signing is part of the company’s long-term development strategy for the Desmosedici GP project.
“After confirming Marc, we wanted to bring in a young and incredibly fast rider to continue developing the Desmosedici GP,” Dall’Igna said.
“Pedro has already demonstrated exceptional talent and maturity. In less than six years in the World Championship, he has won two world titles and delivered consistently impressive performances in MotoGP.”
“He will motivate everyone within the team, and we will support him as he continues to grow. Given the right environment and time, we are confident he will play a major role in achieving even greater performance and future success.”
The announcement signals a new era for Ducati, pairing one of the sport’s greatest champions with arguably the brightest young talent in MotoGP.
With Marc Marquez bringing experience, race-winning pedigree and championship-winning knowledge, and Acosta offering youthful speed, aggression and enormous potential, Ducati has assembled a rider line-up capable of challenging for titles well into the future.
As the 2027 season approaches, all eyes will now be on how quickly Acosta adapts to the factory Ducati machinery and whether the dream partnership can deliver even more championship success for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer.
