Rio de Janeiro has been selected to host the official MotoGP 2027 Season Launch on 21 February 2027, bringing one of the championship’s biggest pre-season events to Brazil for the first time.
The main event is scheduled to take place at Botafogo Beach, with the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain providing the backdrop as MotoGP officially unveils the 2027 season.
The announcement follows MotoGP’s successful return to Brazil in 2026, when almost 150,000 spectators attended the sold-out Grand Prix weekend in Goiânia. The strong turnout highlighted Brazil’s continued passion for motorcycle racing and its importance as a market for the championship.

MotoGP Season Launch Heads to Rio
The MotoGP Season Launch has become one of the championship’s major annual events, bringing together all MotoGP teams, riders and manufacturers ahead of the opening round.
Beyond the official team presentations, the event is expected to feature rider appearances, interviews, manufacturer displays, fan activities, merchandise and live entertainment.
For Rio de Janeiro, hosting the event also provides an opportunity to showcase the city’s landmarks, culture and tourism attractions to a global audience through MotoGP’s extensive international media and digital coverage.
The 2026 MotoGP Season Launch in Kuala Lumpur generated more than USD7 million in economic value, highlighting the potential impact of the event on tourism, local businesses and destination marketing.
Following previous editions in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, Rio de Janeiro is set to raise the scale of the event further with a festival combining MotoGP, entertainment and Brazilian culture.
