Chinese motorcycle manufacturer ZXMoto is gaining attention with its new 500RR, an inline-four middleweight sportbike that combines high-revving performance with a premium equipment package.

The 500RR has already been launched in Thailand with a starting price of 199,900 baht (approximately RM24,696), making it significantly cheaper than several 400cc multi-cylinder motorcycles available in the Thai market. The model is also scheduled to reach dealerships in the UK, while its international expansion is expected to continue.

Powering the ZXMoto 500RR is a 470cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, 16-valve inline-four engine with a 12.9:1 compression ratio and Bosch electronic fuel injection. The engine produces a claimed 84 hp at 13,500 rpm and 46 Nm of torque at 11,500 rpm, giving the 500RR one of the more aggressive power outputs in the middleweight sportbike segment.

Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox, wet multi-plate slipper clutch and chain final drive. The motorcycle also features a ram-air intake system designed to improve engine performance at higher speeds, capable of reaching speeds over 235 km/h.

The electronics package is equally comprehensive. A six-axis IMU controls the motorcycle’s cornering ABS and traction control, while riders can choose between Sport, Street, Beginner and Custom riding modes.

Riding information is displayed through a TFT-LCD instrument panel. Suspension consists of 41mm upside-down front forks with preload and rebound adjustment, paired with an adjustable rear monoshock. A steering damper is also fitted as standard.

One of the 500RR’s standout design features is its single-sided swingarm, giving the sportbike a more premium appearance compared with many motorcycles in the 400cc to 500cc class. Braking is handled by twin 300mm front discs with four-piston Taisko callipers, complemented by a rear disc and dual-channel ABS.

Beyond the motorcycle itself, ZXMoto has also attracted attention from investors. The company recently secured an exclusive investment from HSG Group, formerly known as Sequoia Capital China, reportedly raising its post-investment valuation to around CNY6 billion (approximately RM3.5 billion).

The investment amount was not officially disclosed by either party, although Chinese media outlet The Paper reported that HSG invested around CNY150 million (approximately RM88 million) in the Chongqing-based motorcycle manufacturer.

ZXMoto is also making progress in the European market, with the 500RR receiving European Union Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) certification. This certification allows the motorcycle to meet the necessary regulatory requirements for sale across EU member states.

For the Malaysian market, ZXMoto is represented by MForce Bike Holdings, with the 500RR expected to make its local debut in September 2026. With its 84 hp inline-four engine, sophisticated electronics and aggressive pricing in Thailand, the ZXMoto 500RR could become an interesting new contender in Malaysia’s growing middleweight sportbike segment.
