KTM has expanded its sportbike lineup with the surprise unveiling of the 2028 KTM 450 RC at EICMA 2026. Designed to bridge the gap between entry-level and middleweight supersport motorcycles, the new model introduces a completely new twin-cylinder platform aimed at riders seeking premium performance in a more accessible package.
Unlike KTM’s single-cylinder RC models, the new 450 RC features a parallel-twin engine, marking a significant step forward for the Austrian manufacturer in the highly competitive mid-displacement supersport segment. While KTM has yet to reveal the engine’s full specifications, the company says the motorcycle has been engineered to deliver class-leading performance alongside the sharp handling and aggressive character expected from its RC family.

New Twin-Cylinder Platform
The 2028 KTM 450 RC is built around an all-new platform developed specifically for the supersport category. According to KTM, the motorcycle features its own dedicated chassis, suspension setup, electronic calibration, and specifications rather than being adapted from an existing model.
Although official power and torque figures have not yet been announced, the twin-cylinder configuration is expected to offer smoother power delivery and stronger mid-range performance compared to traditional single-cylinder sportbikes in the same class.

Premium WP Suspension and Single-Sided Swingarm
One of the standout features of the KTM 450 RC is its premium chassis package. At the front, the motorcycle is equipped with 43 mm WP APEX upside-down forks offering both compression and rebound adjustment.
At the rear, a fully adjustable WP APEX monoshock handles preload and rebound damping while being paired with a striking single-sided swingarm, a feature rarely seen in this displacement class. The combination is designed to deliver precise handling for both spirited road riding and occasional track use.

High-Spec Braking System
Braking duties are handled by a 320 mm front disc paired with a four-piston radial-mounted WP brake caliper. Instead of using dual front discs, KTM has opted for a lightweight single-disc setup to reduce unsprung weight while maintaining strong stopping performance.
The motorcycle also comes factory-fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 tyres, reinforcing its sporty intentions straight from the showroom.

Advanced Electronics for Everyday Riding
KTM has equipped the 450 RC with a comprehensive electronics package usually reserved for larger-capacity motorcycles. Riders will benefit from Cornering ABS, Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), and dual-channel ABS featuring both Road and Supermoto modes. Multiple ride modes are also available, allowing riders to tailor the motorcycle’s behaviour to different riding conditions.
All rider information is displayed through a 5-inch TFT instrument panel, while both USB-A and USB-C charging ports are included as standard for added convenience. These features make the KTM 450 RC one of the most technologically advanced motorcycles in its class.

Designed for Road and Track
According to KTM, the 450 RC has been developed to combine everyday usability with genuine supersport performance. Its lightweight chassis, premium suspension, advanced electronics, and aggressive ergonomics are intended to give riders the confidence to enjoy the motorcycle both on public roads and during occasional track days.
The motorcycle also adopts KTM’s latest RC design language, featuring sharp aerodynamic bodywork inspired by the brand’s larger supersport models.
Production Begins in Late 2027
KTM confirmed that production of the 2028 KTM 450 RC is scheduled to begin in late 2027, with the motorcycle arriving as a 2028 model year.
The company has yet to announce pricing, horsepower figures, weight, or availability for individual markets. More technical specifications are expected to be revealed closer to the start of production.
With its premium hardware, advanced rider aids, and all-new twin-cylinder platform, the KTM 450 RC looks set to become one of the most exciting additions to the lightweight supersport segment when it reaches showrooms
