MotorLand Aragon will continue to host MotoGP in 2027 after a new agreement was signed between the Government of Aragon and MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports.
The announcement was made on June 10 during an official event in Zaragoza, confirming the return of the Aragon Grand Prix for another season.
While the latest agreement guarantees a place on the MotoGP calendar for 2027, MotorLand Aragon will also remain closely linked to the championship from 2028 to 2031 as an official reserve circuit.
Key Venue in MotoGP’s Spanish Presence
MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta welcomed the renewal, highlighting the circuit’s importance to the championship over the past two decades.
“MotorLand Aragon has been an important partner for MotoGP for almost two decades, playing a key role in the championship’s presence in Spain,” said Ezpeleta.
“The renewal for 2027 reflects both the strength of that partnership and the value the event brings to the region. We are very pleased to continue working together and to keep Aragón as part of the MotoGP family in the years ahead as a reserve circuit.”
MotorLand Aragon first joined the MotoGP calendar in 2010 and has since become one of the most popular stops on the championship schedule thanks to its technical layout, dramatic elevation changes and passionate fan base.
Major Economic Impact for the Region
Beyond the sporting aspect, the Aragon Grand Prix continues to play a significant role in boosting the local economy.
According to officials, the event requires an annual investment of approximately €12 million, but generates close to €50 million in direct and indirect economic impact for the region.
Nearly half of that figure is attributed directly to MotoGP activities during the Grand Prix weekend.
Each year, more than 110,000 spectators attend the event, with fans travelling from across Spain and around the world to witness the racing action.
The influx of visitors provides a substantial boost to local businesses, including hotels, restaurants and retail operators, many of which operate at full capacity throughout the race weekend.
Aragon Commits to MotoGP Future
Aragon regional president Jorge Azcon expressed his satisfaction with the agreement and the circuit’s continued relationship with MotoGP.
“We are pleased to confirm that the Aragon Grand Prix will return next year. Motorcycles will once again roar around the Alcañiz circuit in 2027. MotorLand will also continue to be linked to MotoGP between 2028 and 2031 as a reserve venue,” said Azcon.
One of MotoGP’s Most Demanding Tracks
Widely regarded as one of the most challenging circuits on the calendar, MotorLand Aragon combines high-speed sections, heavy braking zones and technical corners that regularly produce exciting racing.
The venue has delivered numerous memorable battles over the years and remains a favourite among both riders and fans.
With the new agreement now confirmed, MotoGP supporters can look forward to another visit to the iconic Spanish circuit in 2027, while MotorLand Aragon’s role as a reserve venue ensures it will remain an important part of the championship’s future plans well into the next decade.
