Royal Enfield returned to Art of Speed 2026 (AOS 2026) with a strong presence, unveiling two unique custom motorcycles, OBSIDIAN and Carolina Reaper, while introducing an exclusive ownership package for customers purchasing a new Royal Enfield motorcycle during the promotional period.

Held at Hall A, MAEPS Serdang, the showcase celebrates 125 years of Pure Motorcycling, highlighting the brand’s longstanding connection with custom motorcycle culture, craftsmanship and self-expression.

Making its public debut at AOS 2026, OBSIDIAN is a custom chopper built by Pa’din Musa of Abah & Sons Vintage Choppers under Royal Enfield’s Custom World programme.

Based on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, OBSIDIAN combines classic chopper styling with modern engineering. Designed primarily for long-distance riding rather than static display, the motorcycle follows a philosophy of simplicity, reliability and ease of maintenance.

OBSIDIAN is an exclusive custom chopper concept created by celebrated local builder Pa’din Musa of Abah & Sons Vintage Choppers.

Almost every component was handcrafted from scratch, featuring a narrow custom front end, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, twin carburettors, an internal throttle, foot clutch, hand-operated jockey shifter and a custom-built sissy bar capable of carrying touring luggage. Integrated wiring and a hidden taillight further enhance its clean, minimalist appearance.

Also on display was Carolina Reaper, created by Tokyo-based custom builder and flat track racer Toshiyuki Osawa of Cheetah Custom Cycles. Built around the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and powered by the 452cc liquid-cooled Sherpa 450 engine, Carolina Reaper draws inspiration from 1970s American flat track race bikes and muscle cars.

Without modifying the motorcycle’s main frame, Osawa fabricated a new rear subframe, aluminium bodywork and a chromoly steel swingarm, while converting the rear suspension to a direct-mount setup for greater adjustability and improved flat track performance.

Unlike many custom motorcycles built solely for display, Carolina Reaper was designed to compete on dirt tracks while showcasing the versatility and performance potential of the Guerrilla 450 platform.

Custom-built by Tokyo’s Toshiyuki ‘Cheetah’ Osawa, the “Carolina Reaper” is a flat-track motorcycle based on the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450.

Beyond motorcycles, Royal Enfield also brought skateboarding culture to AOS 2026 through live demonstrations on a dedicated skate ramp. The activation highlighted the similarities between motorcycling and skateboarding, with both communities embracing creativity, freedom and self-expression.

Commenting on the brand’s participation, Rewi Hamid Bugo, Chairman of Didi Group Malaysia, said, “As Royal Enfield celebrates 125 years of Pure Motorcycling, we are proud to bring its legacy of craftsmanship and self-expression to life at Art of Speed.”

He added that the collaboration with renowned Malaysian custom builder Pa’din Musa demonstrates how a Royal Enfield can become a unique personal expression while remaining a motorcycle built to be ridden and enjoyed.

Meanwhile, Adrian Sellers, Head of Custom & Motorsport at Royal Enfield, said, “Malaysia has an intensely creative custom ecosystem, and Art of Speed remains an important platform for builders and enthusiasts to exchange ideas and showcase what is possible.”

He added that OBSIDIAN and Carolina Reaper represent two completely different interpretations of Royal Enfield motorcycles, demonstrating the versatility of the brand’s platforms while preserving the joy of riding.

Visitors also had the opportunity to experience selected Royal Enfield motorcycles through test ride sessions while exploring the brand’s riding apparel and lifestyle collection.

In conjunction with Art of Speed 2026, Royal Enfield Malaysia is offering an exclusive ownership package for all motorcycles purchased between 1 August and 30 September 2026.

The promotion includes five years of warranty, two years of free scheduled servicing, three years of roadside assistance, and complimentary first-year road tax, providing added value and greater peace of mind for new owners.
