The announcement marks another important step in Yamaha’s long-term rider development programme, as the Spanish rider earns a well-deserved promotion after several impressive seasons in Moto2.
At just 22 years old, Guevara has steadily climbed through the Grand Prix ranks. After claiming the Moto3 World Championship title in 2022, he continued to showcase his talent in Moto2 with consistent front-running performances, proving he has the pace and maturity to make the leap to MotoGP.
His promotion also highlights Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP’s commitment to nurturing young talent within the Yamaha family, giving promising riders a clear pathway to the premier class.

Paolo Campinoti, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pramac Racing Limited, expressed his excitement over Guevara’s arrival.
“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP, and we are very proud to welcome Izan to the team for 2027. He has earned this opportunity through his performances, his commitment and the continuous progress he has shown throughout his Moto2 career.”
Campinoti believes Guevara has deserved the opportunity through his hard work and steady development, making him the ideal choice to join Yamaha’s MotoGP programme.

Borsoi Confident in 2027 Rider Pairing
Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team Director Gino Borsoi believes the combination of Guevara and Razgatlıoğlu provides the perfect balance for the team’s future.
According to Borsoi, Guevara’s promotion reflects the core philosophy behind Yamaha’s development programme, creating a pathway for young riders to progress from the junior categories into MotoGP.
While acknowledging that MotoGP will present a significant challenge for Guevara, particularly with the introduction of completely new technical regulations in 2027, Borsoi is confident the fresh era of the championship will also give young riders a strong opportunity to adapt quickly and demonstrate their abilities.
He also highlighted the importance of retaining Razgatlıoğlu for another season, noting that the Turkish rider’s growing MotoGP experience will provide valuable stability as Yamaha continues developing its new project.
Borsoi concluded that the 2027 rider line-up represents the right direction for Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP, bringing together youth, talent and experience to build a competitive future.
