Yamaha XSR155 Finally Arrives in Malaysia at RM12,998

The retro-styled Yamaha XSR155 has finally made its way into the Malaysian market, powered by the familiar 155cc VVA engine.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has officially introduced the long-awaited Yamaha XSR155 into the local market, with the retro-styled naked motorcycle priced at RM12,998, excluding insurance. 

The arrival marks the first XSR family model to officially enter Malaysia, almost seven years after the XSR155 was first introduced in Thailand in August 2019.

For the Malaysian market, the XSR155 will be offered in three colour options: Evergreen, Classic Silver and Royale Black. Yamaha Malaysia is also offering a two-year or 20,000km warranty, whichever comes first. 

However, interested buyers will have to wait until the fourth quarter of 2026, when the model is expected to become available through authorized Yamaha dealers. 

Powering the Yamaha XSR155 is a 155cc, liquid-cooled, SOHC, single-cylinder engine equipped with Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system. The engine, which is also shared with models such as the Yamaha Y16ZR, is paired with a six-speed transmission and Assist & Slipper Clutch.

It produces a claimed 18.9 hp at 10,000 rpm and 14.4 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm, giving the XSR155 a performance package that is familiar to riders already acquainted with Yamaha’s 155cc platform.

The engine is housed within a Deltabox-style frame, while suspension duties are handled by USD front forks and a rear monoshock with preload adjustment.

While the XSR155 carries a strong retro design, its mechanical package is decidedly modern. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch aluminium wheels, wrapped in 110/70 front and 140/70 rear tyres. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends, supported by a dual-channel ABS system.

The XSR155 tips the scales at 137kg, while its 10-litre fuel tank gives it the largest tank capacity among Yamaha’s current 155cc family, according to the information provided.

The XSR155’s design takes inspiration from classic motorcycles, featuring a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, heritage-style seat and round digital LCD instrument display. Lighting is handled entirely by LED units at the front and rear, giving the motorcycle a modern touch while retaining its retro character.
