Tech3 has officially confirmed the signing of Italian rider Luca Marini for the 2027 MotoGP World Championship, marking a significant step as the championship enters a brand-new era with revised technical regulations.

The announcement sees Marini join Tech3 after spending three seasons with Honda HRC Castrol, where he has played an important role in the factory team’s development efforts since 2024. His arrival is expected to strengthen Tech3’s ambitions as the team begins the next chapter of its partnership with KTM under the new MotoGP regulations.

Luca Marini Brings Experience to Tech3

Marini enters Tech3 with a wealth of experience gained throughout his Grand Prix career. Before moving up to MotoGP, the Italian enjoyed success in Moto2, finishing as the 2020 Moto2 World Championship runner-up after securing race victories and consistently fighting at the front.

He made his MotoGP debut in 2021 and has since earned a reputation as one of the paddock’s most reliable and technically capable riders. Throughout his premier-class career, Marini has collected podium finishes while demonstrating his ability to adapt to different machinery and racing conditions.

With MotoGP introducing an entirely new technical package from 2027, Marini’s experience in motorcycle development is expected to become one of Tech3’s biggest assets.

Fresh Start Ahead of MotoGP’s New Era

The 2027 season represents more than just a team change for Marini. It also marks the beginning of a new technical era for MotoGP, with updated regulations expected to reshape the competitive landscape across the grid.

Joining Tech3 at this stage gives Marini the opportunity to be involved in developing KTM’s next-generation MotoGP machine from the ground up. His technical feedback and race experience are expected to play an important role as the Austrian manufacturer prepares for the sport’s biggest regulation reset in years.

For Tech3, securing an experienced rider ahead of such a major transition demonstrates the team’s commitment to building a competitive package for the future.

Tech3 CEO Confident in Marini’s Contribution

Tech3 CEO Guenther Steiner welcomed Marini to the team and believes the Italian is the ideal rider to help guide Tech3 into MotoGP’s next generation.

“Luca is a rider we have been watching closely, and we are very pleased to welcome him to Tech3 from 2027. He brings a huge amount of experience, but also the right mentality and approach for what we are building here.”

Steiner also highlighted the importance of having an experienced rider during MotoGP’s regulation changes.

“2027 will be a big reset for MotoGP, so having a rider who can contribute to our progress in this new era will be important. Luca understands how to work at this level of the sport, whether it’s collaborating with the engineers, developing the bike or pushing forward in challenging circumstances.”

He added that the partnership with KTM and Marini’s arrival represent an exciting opportunity for the team.

“We are entering an exciting new chapter with KTM, and we believe Luca has the speed, experience and determination to help us achieve our goals.”

Tech3 Team Manager Excited for the Future

Tech3 Team Manager Nicolas Goyon also expressed his enthusiasm about welcoming Marini ahead of the 2027 campaign.

“We are very happy to have Luca joining us from 2027. He has already shown his ability to perform at the highest level, and his experience in MotoGP will be extremely valuable as we enter this new chapter.”

Goyon believes Marini’s technical understanding will be an important advantage for the team as MotoGP enters a new development cycle.

“He has a strong understanding of what is required from both the rider and technical side, and we are confident that he will be an important part of our progress with KTM. We are looking forward to working with him and seeing what we can achieve together.”

Looking Ahead to the 2027 MotoGP Season

Marini’s move to Tech3 is one of the earliest rider announcements ahead of MotoGP’s highly anticipated regulation overhaul in 2027. With an experienced rider joining the team and KTM preparing for a fresh technical challenge, both parties will be aiming to establish themselves as strong contenders when the new era begins.

As MotoGP prepares for one of the biggest changes in its modern history, the partnership between Luca Marini and Tech3 could prove to be a key piece in shaping the team’s future success.
