Trackhouse MotoGP rider Ai Ogura will miss this weekend’s Aragon Grand Prix, the 13th round of the 2026 MotoGP season, after suffering an injury to his left hand while training in Japan.

The Japanese rider sustained the injury during the break following the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. After arriving in Europe, medical examinations confirmed that a fracture near his left thumb requires surgery, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 27.

Trackhouse confirmed that Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori will replace Ogura for the Aragon round, joining Raul Fernandez in the team’s lineup.

“SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team rider #79 Ai Ogura suffered a left-hand injury while training in Japan,” the team said in a statement.

“On arrival in Europe, the fracture close to his left thumb has been found to require surgery which he will undergo, on Thursday, this week.”

“The Team welcomes #32 Lorenzo Savadori who will substitute for this round, in Aragon. We wish Ai a speedy recovery and are grateful for Lorenzo’s agreement to deputise at such short notice.”

The injury comes at an unfortunate time for Ogura, who has enjoyed an impressive debut season with Trackhouse. The 25-year-old currently sits third in the MotoGP championship standings with 203 points, 37 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin.

Ogura’s recent form includes victory at the Dutch Grand Prix and a second-place finish in the British Sprint. His crash at Silverstone was also his first major race mistake of the season.

However, his absence in Aragon could have a significant impact on his championship position. Marc Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Raul Fernandez are all within 19 points of Ogura, meaning the Japanese rider could potentially drop as far as sixth in the standings following the Aragon weekend.

For Trackhouse, Savadori will make a short-notice return to MotoGP competition aboard the Aprilia RS-GP, partnering Fernandez at MotorLand Aragon.

Ogura’s recovery timeline has yet to be confirmed, leaving his participation in the following rounds dependent on the progress of his recovery after surgery.
