Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has officially launched the 2026 Yamaha XMax 300 Tech Max in Malaysia, adding a more premium and powerful option to its XMax maxi-scooter range. The new model was unveiled during the Yamaha GenBlu Carnival in Setia Alam, Selangor, alongside the recent launches of the 2026 Yamaha XSR 155 and 2026 Yamaha Y16ZR-R.

Priced at RM28,499, excluding road tax, insurance and registration fees, the XMax 300 Tech Max is expected to arrive at authorised Hong Leong Yamaha Big Bike dealer showrooms from mid-August 2026. Bookings are already open. It will be sold alongside the existing Yamaha XMax 250, which remains available at RM24,888.

Powering the XMax 300 Tech Max is a 292cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled SOHC Blue Core engine, paired with Yamaha’s automatic CVT transmission. The engine produces a claimed 28 PS at 7,250 rpm and 28.9 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm, giving the larger XMax a clear performance advantage over the XMax 250.

For the Malaysian market, the XMax 300 Tech Max is offered exclusively in a Crystal Graphite colour scheme, complemented by dedicated Tech Max badging.

with the XMax 250, the XMax 300 Tech Max comes equipped with several electronic riding aids, including keyless start, Yamaha Traction Control System (TCS), two-channel ABS and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). Riders get a 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display, which also provides smartphone connectivity through Yamaha’s Y-Connect application.

The system supports integrated Garmin navigation, allowing riders to access turn-by-turn directions directly through the display. It can also display incoming calls and messages, while supporting music playback when connected to a smartphone.

As expected from the Tech Max variant, Yamaha has given the XMax 300 a number of upgrades aimed at improving both comfort and overall finish. The scooter features a premium leather-style seat, designed to provide additional comfort during longer rides. The front cowl storage covers also receive faux suede material, while the footboards are finished with aluminium footplates.

Practicality remains one of the XMax’s key strengths, with the underseat storage compartment capable of accommodating up to two full-face helmets, depending on the size and shell design of the helmets.

The XMax 300 Tech Max uses telescopic front forks offering 110mm of suspension travel, while the rear is equipped with twin preload-adjustable shock absorbers with 79mm of travel. Braking duties are handled by hydraulic disc brakes at both ends.

Up front, the scooter gets a 267mm disc with a two-piston calliper, while the rear uses a 245mm disc paired with a single-piston calliper. Both are supported by the standard two-channel ABS system.

The XMax 300 Tech Max rides on 120/70-15 front and 140/70-14 rear tyres. With all fluids, the XMax 300 Tech Max tips the scales at 187kg and comes with a 13-litre fuel tank. Seat height is set at 795mm, while LED lighting is used throughout the scooter, including the distinctive ‘X’-shaped LED headlight.

With its larger engine, additional electronic equipment, premium Tech Max finish and touring-focused features, the 2026 Yamaha XMax 300 Tech Max gives Malaysian riders another option in the growing maxi-scooter segment.
