The next chapter of Fermín Aldeguer’s MotoGP career has been confirmed, with the Spanish rider set to join the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team from the 2027 season onwards.

The 2025 MotoGP Rookie of the Year will compete with the iconic Fluo yellow colours of Valentino Rossi’s team for the next two seasons, while also becoming an official Ducati Corse rider. Aldeguer will have access to a factory-spec Ducati Desmosedici GP as MotoGP enters a new era with updated technical regulations in 2027.

At just 21 years old, Aldeguer has quickly established himself as one of the most promising young riders on the MotoGP grid. His impressive rise through the championship categories has made him one of the most highly regarded talents in modern motorcycle racing.

Fermín Aldeguer’s Journey to MotoGP

Aldeguer’s racing journey began in Spain, where he achieved success in regional and national championships before moving on to compete at European level.

He first entered the World Championship paddock in 2021 through MotoE before making the move to Moto2. His performances in the intermediate class quickly caught attention, especially after a dominant campaign in European Moto2 where he demonstrated his speed and consistency.

In Moto2, Aldeguer continued to impress with several strong victories, proving that he had the potential to compete against the world’s best riders. His performances eventually earned him a place on the MotoGP grid in 2025.

Rookie Season Success and First MotoGP Victory

Aldeguer made an immediate impact during his debut MotoGP season in 2025. The Spanish rider secured three podium finishes and achieved his maiden MotoGP victory at the Indonesian Grand Prix.

With that win, Aldeguer became the second-youngest rider in MotoGP history to claim a premier-class victory.

His outstanding debut season saw him finish among the top ten in the championship standings while also earning the prestigious Rookie of the Year award. Despite missing three races due to injury, Aldeguer continued to show strong potential and currently sits eleventh in the overall standings, including a podium finish in Barcelona.

Aldeguer Excited for New Challenge with VR46 Racing Team

Speaking about his move to the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, Aldeguer expressed his excitement about joining Valentino Rossi’s squad and working with Ducati’s factory programme.

“I’m very happy to be taking this step in my MotoGP career with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Signing with Valentino’s team is incredible. He has always been one of my idols and a role model for me.”

Aldeguer believes joining a Ducati-supported team will provide the perfect environment for his development, especially with major changes coming to MotoGP regulations in 2027.

The Spanish rider highlighted the importance of adapting to the new tyres and motorcycle while focusing on consistency and gathering valuable data throughout the season.

“Having the factory Ducati will be a huge help in terms of development throughout the season. It will be a year in which we will aim to be consistent, avoid mistakes and spend as much time as possible on the bike to gather information.”

Aldeguer also thanked Gresini Racing and team owner Nadia Padovani for their support in helping him reach MotoGP.

VR46 Racing Team Welcomes Rising MotoGP Star

Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team Director Alessio Salucci welcomed Aldeguer’s arrival, describing him as one of the most talented young riders in MotoGP.

According to Salucci, Aldeguer’s performances since entering the premier class have demonstrated his ability to compete at the highest level, and the team is ready to support his continued development.

“He is a young rider who showed a huge talent right from his MotoGP debut, becoming one of the main contenders.”

Salucci also thanked Ducati for its continued technical and human support as the VR46 Racing Team prepares for the next phase of its MotoGP project.

Ducati Confident in Aldeguer’s Future Potential

Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna shared his confidence in Aldeguer’s future, praising the rider’s talent, learning ability and determination since joining MotoGP.

Dall’Igna explained that Ducati’s decision to continue investing in Aldeguer reflects the manufacturer’s belief in his long-term potential.

“He is still a very young rider, but his potential is enormous and we are convinced that he has plenty of room to grow.”

Ducati also believes that the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team will provide the ideal environment for Aldeguer to continue improving, thanks to the team’s experience in developing young talents.

VR46 Racing Team Ready to Support Aldeguer’s Growth

Team Manager Pablo Nieto also expressed his excitement about welcoming Aldeguer into the team, praising his maturity despite his young age.

Nieto highlighted that winning in MotoGP is never easy, making Aldeguer’s maiden victory during his rookie season an impressive achievement.

“We trust him a lot because we know he has the potential to fight for anything he wants.”

With a factory Ducati Desmosedici GP, strong team support and the beginning of a new MotoGP era in 2027, Fermín Aldeguer will enter the next stage of his career with the ambition of challenging for more victories and fighting among the top riders in the championship.
