Ducati Corse has officially confirmed that reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez will remain with the Ducati Lenovo Team for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP World Championship seasons.

The new two-year agreement secures the Spaniard’s future with the Borgo Panigale manufacturer following a remarkable first season aboard the factory Desmosedici GP, where he returned to the top of the sport in spectacular fashion.

Marquez first joined the Ducati family at the start of the 2024 season before stepping up to the factory Ducati Lenovo Team in 2025. The move proved to be an instant success as he dominated the championship, collecting 14 Sprint victories and 11 Grand Prix wins, including 10 perfect weekends where he won both the Sprint and Sunday’s race.

His outstanding campaign also saw him clinch the 2025 MotoGP world title with five rounds remaining while setting a new all-time record of 545 championship points in a single season. The achievement marked an extraordinary comeback, coming six years after his previous world championship.

The partnership has continued to flourish throughout the 2026 season, with Ducati and Marquez celebrating another historic milestone together at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The victory marked Ducati’s 100th MotoGP win, coinciding with the Italian manufacturer’s centenary celebrations and Marquez’s 100th career Grand Prix victory across all classes.

Marquez currently boasts 74 MotoGP wins, 16 Moto2 victories and 10 triumphs in the 125cc category, cementing his place among the sport’s greatest riders.

Speaking after signing the new contract, Marquez expressed his excitement about continuing with Ducati.

“I’m red. I’m truly happy with this new agreement with the Ducati Lenovo Team and to continue being part of this family,” said Marquez.

“When I decided to join Ducati, I was convinced it was the most competitive project. They believed in me, and we built a relationship based on trust and hard work. With this renewal, they have once again reaffirmed this commitment while giving me the peace of mind I needed to make the right decision.”

The Spaniard added that his motivation remains as strong as ever despite already achieving so much in his career.

“I continue to compete because I love this sport and I want to achieve even more ambitious goals. I’m convinced this is the right place to do it. As long as I’m here, I’ll give my all to paint the future red.”

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali described the contract extension as the natural next step following the success both parties have enjoyed together.

“The renewal with Marc for the 2027 and 2028 seasons represents the most natural choice after the incredible results we achieved together in his first season in red,” said Domenicali.

“He brought into an already winning team an even stronger competitive mentality. Marc perfectly represents the Ducati philosophy through his dedication, determination and professionalism. Continuing together allows us to build on a successful project while maintaining our ambition of keeping Ducati at the top of MotoGP.”

Meanwhile, Ducati Corse General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna praised the trust that has developed between both sides since Marquez first joined the Italian manufacturer.

“Our relationship with Marc has always been built on trust,” Dall’Igna said. “He chose Ducati because he believed in our project, and today we are delighted to continue planning our future together. As an engineer, working with Marc has been incredibly rewarding. He has pushed the Desmosedici GP to even greater performance while constantly helping us improve every aspect of the motorcycle.”

With Marc Marquez now officially committed until the end of 2028, Ducati has secured one of the most successful riders in MotoGP history as it continues its pursuit of further championships.

The announcement also completes Ducati’s long-term rider plans after confirming Pedro Acosta as Marquez’s future teammate from the 2027 season, creating one of the strongest rider line-ups on the MotoGP grid for the years ahead.
