Nicolò Bulega to Make MotoGP Move with VR46 Ducati in 2027

The Aruba.it Racing-Ducati rider will step up to MotoGP next season with Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team after two seasons as a WorldSBK title contender.

Nicolò Bulega will make the move from the FIM Superbike World Championship to MotoGP in 2027, with Ducati confirming a renewed agreement that will see the Italian rider remain part of its racing programme.

Bulega will join the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, Ducati’s factory-supported satellite team, for the 2027 MotoGP season. He will share the garage with Fermín Aldeguer, who is also set to move to VR46 after racing for BK8 Gresini Racing.

The move marks the next step in Bulega’s rise through the Ducati racing programme. After establishing himself as one of the leading riders in WorldSBK with the Aruba.it Racing-Ducati Team, the 26-year-old will now take on the premier class of motorcycle racing.

Ducati described Bulega’s move to MotoGP as a natural progression following his development in the manufacturer’s racing programme, highlighting his speed, technical maturity and ability to adapt to different machinery.

Before making the switch, Bulega will remain focused on the remainder of the 2026 WorldSBK season, where he continues to fight for the championship with Aruba.it Racing-Ducati.

Bulega’s Impressive WorldSBK Record

Bulega has finished runner-up in the Superbike World Championship for the past two seasons, establishing himself as one of the category’s leading riders.

His 2026 campaign has been particularly impressive. Across the first 27 races of the season, Bulega has recorded 26 victories and one second-place finish, underlining his dominance in the championship.

He has also achieved a remarkable run of 25 consecutive WorldSBK race wins, setting a new record for the category.

His success follows his World Supersport title with Ducati before making the step up to WorldSBK, where he immediately emerged as a championship contender.

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali said Bulega had earned the opportunity to test himself in MotoGP through his performances in WorldSBK.

“Nicolò is a rider to whom we are deeply attached, and his journey with Ducati makes us particularly proud,” said Domenicali.

“Today, he is the key protagonist leading a Championship in which he has set a series of 25 consecutive victories, a record that rightfully places him in the history of the category.”

Domenicali added that Ducati was pleased Bulega would take on the MotoGP challenge while continuing his relationship with the manufacturer.

Ducati Welcomes Bulega to MotoGP Project

Ducati Corse General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna also praised Bulega’s development, pointing to his ability to consistently extract strong performance from Ducati machinery.

“We are very happy to have renewed our agreement with Nicolò and to welcome him to the Ducati MotoGP project starting from the next season,” said Dall’Igna.

“Over these years, he has proven to be a rider of great talent, capable of growing consistently, making the best out of our bikes, and reaching an extremely high level of competitiveness.”

Bulega will now begin preparing for his first MotoGP season, where he will face a completely different challenge compared with the production-based WorldSBK machinery.

His move also gives Ducati another young rider to develop within its MotoGP structure, with Bulega joining Aldeguer at VR46 for the start of the new 850cc MotoGP era in 2027.

For now, however, Bulega’s attention remains firmly on WorldSBK, where he continues to chase the championship with Aruba.it Racing-Ducati before beginning the next chapter of his career in MotoGP.
