Jack Miller is set to begin a new chapter in his racing career after signing a two-year contract with Pata Maxus Yamaha to compete in the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) starting from the 2027 season.
The Australian rider will leave MotoGP after an 11-year career in the premier class, making the switch from Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP to Yamaha’s official WorldSBK squad. Miller’s arrival comes as Yamaha continues its efforts to strengthen its WorldSBK project and return to the front of the championship.
From Australian Talent to Moto3 Title Contender
Miller first made a name for himself in 2011 by competing in the German IDM 125cc Championship. Despite claiming only one victory, he consistently impressed with seven podium finishes, earning himself a full-time Moto3 ride the following season at just 16 years old.
His progress through the lightweight category was rapid. After finishing 23rd in the 2012 Moto3 standings, he climbed to seventh in 2013 before enjoying a breakthrough campaign in 2014 with Red Bull KTM Ajo.
That season, Miller secured six race victories and 10 podium finishes, ending the championship as runner-up after a close title battle with Alex Marquez.
Direct Promotion to MotoGP
Miller’s impressive Moto3 performances caught the attention of MotoGP teams, allowing him to skip Moto2 entirely and move straight into the premier class with LCR Honda in 2015.
Following his rookie campaign, he joined Marc VDS Racing Team in 2016 and celebrated his maiden MotoGP victory at the Dutch TT in Assen, producing a remarkable ride from 18th on the starting grid in wet conditions.
Throughout his MotoGP career, Miller represented several manufacturers, including Honda, Ducati, KTM and Yamaha. His journey included:

Across 11 seasons, Miller recorded four MotoGP victories and 23 podium finishes, establishing himself as one of the sport’s most experienced riders.
Ready for a New Challenge in WorldSBK
Miller expressed his excitement about continuing his partnership with Yamaha while taking on a fresh challenge in WorldSBK.
He revealed that previous appearances aboard the Yamaha R1 at the Suzuka 8 Hours had already given him a glimpse of the motorcycle’s potential, although he acknowledged that the WorldSBK-spec machine differs from the endurance version.
The Australian believes the move represents an exciting opportunity to continue competing at a high level and hopes to achieve strong results with the Japanese manufacturer.
Yamaha Confident Miller Will Strengthen the Team
Yamaha Motor Europe Road Racing Sporting Manager Niccolò Canepa welcomed Miller to the factory WorldSBK programme, describing the signing as a valuable addition for the team.
Canepa highlighted Miller’s extensive MotoGP experience, technical knowledge and proven racing ability as key strengths that will benefit Yamaha’s development efforts. He also noted that Miller’s familiarity with the Yamaha R1, gained through his Suzuka appearances, should help ease his transition into WorldSBK competition.
Beyond his on-track performance, Yamaha also believes Miller’s outgoing personality and global popularity will help raise the team’s profile and further promote the WorldSBK Championship.
A Fresh Start for Jack Miller
With his MotoGP chapter coming to an end after more than a decade, Jack Miller now looks ahead to a new challenge in WorldSBK. His experience across multiple manufacturers, combined with Yamaha’s ambitions to return to winning ways, could make the Australian one of the most closely watched riders when the 2027 WorldSBK season gets underway.
