MotoGP – Lorenzo to Suzuki: it’s a Monster deal!

MotoGP – Lorenzo to Suzuki: it’s a Monster deal!

Monster Energy is trying to join Suzuki and they’re bringing the money needed to sign Jorge Lorenzo

Suzuki MotoGP factory team may have just found the right partner to offer Jorge Lorenzo exactly what he’s asking to sign a contract with the Hamamatsu manufacturer, and it all begins with another MotoGP team, the Tech3.

With Tech3 joining KTM from 2019 onwards, Monster Energy has lost their main asset in MotoGP, because since 2009 the Tech3 team has been showing the energy drink image on the fairings of their bikes. In the last two years the partnership between Monster and Tech3 has become even more important, all because Johann Zarco’s results.

So, when Tech3 announced they would be joining KTM, Monster Energy main rivals Red Bull gained a serious advantage, since the KTM Tech3 team will be linked with Red Bull.

Now, and as a way to fight back the growth of Red Bull in MotoGP, Monster Energy is entering the negotiations table with Suzuki and Jorge Lorenzo.

Of course they already sponsor Lorenzo at a personal level, and that’s why we see the Spanish rider and five-time World champion having the famous Monster Energy logo on his helmet and apparel. But now they have the chance to also continue to be featured on the fairings of a MotoGP prototype, and in this case, in the fairings of the Suzuki GSX-RR.

With an annual income of 820 million Euros a year, Monster Energy won’t find it too difficult to sponsor Jorge Lorenzo salary, reported to be 12 million Euros per year.

The decision of Monster Energy to enter the negotiations and help Suzuki secure Jorge Lorenzo should be enough to seal the deal, and if reports from the paddock are to be trusted, we won’t be waiting too long to get an official announcement that Lorenzo is the new Suzuki rider.

This is what we might call a Monster deal!

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
