As the sun rose over Pantai Kuala Muda, the sound of 65 Honda motorcycles mixed with the laughter of volunteers as Boon Siew Honda associates gathered for a meaningful beach cleanup under the company’s flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, Ride to Reach.
Rather than riding for speed, the convoy had a different mission, to serve the community, care for the environment, and reach those who need support. Living up to the programme’s motto, “We Care. We Serve. We Reach.”, Honda associates traded their usual work attire for gloves and trash bags, dedicating their Saturday morning to cleaning one of Penang’s coastal areas.
The day began with a flag-off ceremony at the Boon Siew Honda headquarters in Batu Kawan before participants embarked on a scenic convoy ride to Pantai Kuala Muda.
Upon arrival, volunteers worked together to collect, sort, and dispose of waste found along the beach. The activity transformed a simple cleanup effort into a meaningful act of community service, highlighting the importance of preserving the environment for future generations.
Pantai Kuala Muda was selected for its importance to the local fishing community and nearby hawkers. By keeping the shoreline clean, the initiative aimed to create a healthier and more welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.
Beyond cleaning the beach, the event also brought Honda associates closer to the local community. Fishermen, families, and visitors who gathered along the coastline were welcomed by the sight of volunteers arriving on Honda motorcycles before working together to clean the beach. Conversations were shared, smiles were exchanged, and the event reflected Honda’s belief that the joy of mobility is not just about riding, but also about building connections and giving back.
Since its launch in May 2025, Ride to Reach has organised several community-focused initiatives across Malaysia, including road safety education programmes for schools, flood relief efforts, and motorcycle servicing assistance in Perak. The Pantai Kuala Muda beach cleanup marks another chapter in Boon Siew Honda’s commitment to supporting communities while promoting environmental sustainability.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Rosidan bin Haron, Chief Administrative Officer and Chairman of Ride to Reach, said the programme reflects the values at the heart of Honda.
“The Honda Philosophy isn’t just something I work by; it’s something I live by. I carry that book with me everywhere because it reminds me that everything we do must respect people, serve communities, and create joy. Today, we lived that philosophy. We showed that when we ride together with purpose, we can leave a cleaner, greener footprint behind and bring a little happiness to the people we meet,” he said.
The event concluded with a group photo and a shared meal between volunteers and members of the local community, ending the day on a meaningful note.
As the Ride to Reach programme continues to grow, Boon Siew Honda remains committed to reaching further, serving better, and caring deeper, proving that every ride can make a positive difference.
