iMotorbike Penang Supports SPCA Seberang Perai in Latest CSR Initiative

iMotorbike Penang continues its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts with a visit to SPCA Seberang Perai, an animal welfare organisation dedicated to rescuing and caring for stray and abandoned animals.

The visit forms part of iMotorbike’s commitment to carrying out regular CSR activities through its showrooms, with the Penang team continuing to reach out to organisations and communities in need.

SPCA Seberang Perai was registered in September 2005 and was formed by a group of animal lovers with the cooperation of the Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai.

Today, the shelter provides care for nearly 1,800 rescued animals, including more than 1,400 dogs and almost 400 cats. With hundreds of animals depending on the shelter every day, providing food, medical treatment and a safe place to stay is a major responsibility.

Running an animal shelter of this size comes with significant costs. SPCA Seberang Perai requires more than RM100,000 every month to cover essential expenses such as food, veterinary and medical care, shelter maintenance and staffing.

Despite the financial and operational challenges, the shelter continues to care for rescued animals and provide them with a safe environment while they await adoption or other suitable arrangements.

Beyond caring for animals already at the shelter, SPCA Seberang Perai also works with local authorities on initiatives aimed at addressing the wider stray animal population. One of these efforts is the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programme, which focuses on humanely managing stray populations through trapping, sterilisation and returning animals to their communities.

Such initiatives are part of the organisation’s broader efforts to improve animal welfare while addressing the growing number of stray animals. SPCA Seberang Perai operates as a no-kill shelter in Bukit Mertajam, providing rescued animals with continued care despite the challenges involved in running the facility.

For iMotorbike Penang, the CSR visit provided an opportunity to support the organisation and highlight the importance of animal welfare within the local community.
