iMotorbike Glenmarie Supports ORKIDS Through Latest CSR Initiative

iMotorbike Glenmarie HQ recently visited Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Istimewa Selangor (ORKIDS) on 23rd July 2026, reaffirming its commitment to supporting organisations that create meaningful opportunities for children with special needs.

Established in 2010, ORKIDS was founded by a group of parents of children with Down syndrome who recognised the lack of suitable educational pathways once their children reached the age of seven. While early intervention programmes were available for younger children, opportunities became increasingly limited after that. 

Although some children could attend mainstream schools, they were often placed in classrooms with students who had different learning needs, making it difficult for them to receive the specialised attention they required.

Today, ORKIDS provides a dedicated learning environment specifically designed for children with Down syndrome. The centre currently supports 42 students aged between seven and 20 years old, guided by six trained teachers who deliver personalised education tailored to each student’s abilities and learning style.

Students follow a balanced educational programme by attending mainstream schools three days a week while spending the remaining two days at ORKIDS. The centre focuses on visual learning, literacy, numeracy, and practical life skills, helping students become more independent and confident. They also participate in retail-related activities, such as organising products and managing simple tasks, to develop workplace readiness and everyday living skills.

During the visit, the iMotorbike team delivered essential supplies and spent time interacting with the students and teachers. The session provided an opportunity to learn more about the centre’s work while encouraging the students through meaningful engagement and support.

According to Puan Rahayu, one of ORKIDS’ biggest challenges is maintaining financial sustainability. Although parents contribute school fees, the amount is intentionally kept affordable and is insufficient to cover the centre’s operational costs, including teacher salaries, rental, and educational resources. 

As a result, ORKIDS relies heavily on sponsorships, donations, and community support to continue providing quality education. Demand for enrolment also continues to grow, but limited space at the current premises prevents the organisation from accepting more students.

Despite these challenges, ORKIDS continues to make a lasting impact through the dedication of its teachers, staff, and parents, all of whom play an active role in ensuring every child receives the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
