Valentin Debise secured a home podium while ZXMOTO continued to show strong pace in WorldSSP ahead of the 820RR’s Malaysian launch this month.

The FIM Supersport World Championship’s French Round ended on a strong note for ZXMOTO and Evan Bros Racing, with Valentin Debise and Federico Caricasulo delivering a competitive weekend at the Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit.

The weekend started with a historic result in Friday’s Superpole, as the two ZXMOTO riders locked out the front row. Home rider Valentin Debise claimed his first-ever WorldSSP pole position, with teammate Federico Caricasulo completing a ZXMOTO one-two.

Debise went on to finish third in Saturday’s Race 1, while Caricasulo crossed the line fifth. The pair remained inside the points in Sunday’s restarted Race 2, with Debise taking another third-place finish and Caricasulo finishing eighth.

The results gave Debise his second podium of the weekend and saw him finish his home round in third place overall, matching former WorldSSP champion Sebastien Charpentier’s tally for 13th place on the championship’s all-time podium list.

Caricasulo also placed a second ZXMOTO 820RR inside the top eight and scored points in both races of a WorldSSP round for only the second time this season.

Following the French Round, Debise sits second in the championship standings with 225 points, 70 points behind championship leader Albert Arenas. Caricasulo is currently 17th with 49 points.

Debise Wanted More From Race 1

Despite securing a podium in Race 1, Debise admitted he felt the result could have been even better after making a mistake during the early stages of the race.

Still, the French rider managed to recover and fight his way back into podium contention.

“Ultimately, the positive thing is that, despite the circumstances and the fact that I was far back after making those mistakes, I kept my head down and did my best to fight my way back and finished third,” said Debise.

His recovery highlighted the pace of both rider and motorcycle, particularly after losing ground early in the race.

ZXMOTO Shows It Can Fight With Established Brands

ZXMOTO Team Manager Fabio Evangelista was also pleased with the performance of the 820RR, pointing to its ability to compete against established European and Japanese manufacturers in the WorldSSP championship.

“Our bike, and ZXMOTO with this 820RR, showed that the Chinese products, especially in terms of motorcycles, are at the same level of European or Japanese [products], and maybe better, because we are fighting for the title,” said Evangelista.

He added that the team’s experience in Europe had also provided positive feedback about the motorcycle and its competitiveness.

The Magny-Cours results add to what has already been a successful WorldSSP campaign for ZXMOTO. The 820RR has claimed race victories in Portugal, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Italy, demonstrating that the Chinese manufacturer is increasingly becoming a serious contender in the category.

820RR Coming to Malaysia

With the ZXMOTO 820RR continuing to make headlines in WorldSSP, attention is now turning to the motorcycle’s arrival in Malaysia.

The ZXMOTO 820RR is scheduled to launch in Malaysia this 13th September, giving local riders their first opportunity to get a closer look at the machine that has been competing at the sharp end of the WorldSSP grid.

For a relatively new Chinese motorcycle manufacturer, its progress in one of the world’s most competitive production-based racing championships has certainly put the 820RR on the radar.

And with its Malaysian launch now just around the corner, the local market will soon get to see what the 820RR has to offer for itself.
