Ducati Lenovo Team has officially confirmed that Marc Marquez will not be replaced for this weekend’s Catalan Grand Prix following the injuries he sustained during the Tissot Sprint race at the French Grand Prix.
The reigning MotoGP World Champion recently underwent successful surgery in Madrid after suffering injuries to his right foot and shoulder during the heavy crash at Le Mans.
According to Ducati, Marquez has already begun his rehabilitation process following the double surgical procedure, but due to the short recovery period between Le Mans and Barcelona, the team has decided to field only one rider at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
This means Francesco Bagnaia will carry Ducati Lenovo Team’s challenge alone throughout the Catalan GP weekend.

Bagnaia heads into Barcelona aiming to bounce back after crashing out during the French Grand Prix despite showing strong pace throughout the weekend. Before the incident, the Italian rider secured pole position and finished second during Saturday’s Sprint race.
The Ducati rider is also scheduled to continue development duties during the official MotoGP test session on the Monday following the Grand Prix.
“Considering how the weekend ended in France, I’m happy to get back on track. Barcelona is a circuit that has always suited the Desmosedici GP very well. We’ll take the positives from Le Mans because we were competitive from the start, fighting with the front riders and taking pole position,” said Bagnaia.
“We’ll continue working throughout the weekend and try to maximise Monday’s test as well,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ducati and MotoGP fans worldwide continue waiting for further updates regarding Marquez’s recovery timeline and eventual return to racing action.
