Cooper Webb to miss out on final two races due to knee injury

Red Bull KTM rider Cooper Webb will be needing a few weeks to recover.

It had been announced today that Cooper Webb will be sitting out the final two rounds of the 2019 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team rider has suffered a bone contusion in his left knee during Moto 1 of the Unadilla National on Saturday.

The injury is not too severe as it does not require surgery. Despite that, Webb will need a few weeks to recover. After his crash at Unadilla’s first moto, he then immediately rode back off to the pits. Webb did not take part in the second moto.

Cooper Webb, the reigning AMA Supercross Champion, currently sits sixth overall in the 450 Championship Standings.

“Webb, the second-place qualifier, didn’t get the best start in moto one as he rounded the opening lap in ninth. He immediately put his head down and charged up to sixth by lap five. There, he sat within striking distance of a top-five position. With about five laps to go, he ended up pulling off the track due to pain in his left knee. Webb and his team made the tough decision to not race the second moto and the North Carolina native will head home and get evaluated by his doctor as soon as possible,” states Red Bull KTM.

iMotorbike wishes Cooper Webb a speedy recovery.
