Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin thrilled the home crowd by securing a convincing victory in the MSBK1000 Category A Race 2 during Round 2 of the 2026 MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit.
Representing Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia, Kasma produced a composed and determined ride to take the chequered flag after overcoming early race leader Mohammad Adenanta Putra of Astra Honda Racing Team. The victory marks an important result for the Malaysian rider as he continues preparations for the upcoming Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) campaign.
Adenanta takes the early lead
The race began with Kasma and AMI Suzuki Motorsport rider Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman launching well from the front row. However, it was Indonesia’s Mohammad Adenanta Putra who made the strongest start, taking the lead on the opening lap.
Adam Norrodin of AMI Suzuki Motorsport settled into fourth place, while RaceHub Racing Team rider Abhijith Satya Prasad rounded out the top five during the early stages of the race.
Adenanta successfully defended his position on Lap 2 despite early pressure from Kasma, who remained close behind while searching for an opportunity to make his move.
Kasma takes control with impressive race pace
The turning point came on Lap 3 when Kasma recorded the fastest lap of the race at the time with a 2:08.231 before making a decisive overtake on Adenanta to move into the lead.
The Yamaha rider immediately increased his pace and followed it up with an even quicker lap of 2:07.638 on Lap 4, allowing him to steadily pull away from the chasing pack.
Behind the leader, Adenanta continued his pursuit while Adam Norrodin held onto third place. Azlan Shah remained within striking distance throughout the race, looking for an opportunity to move onto the podium, while Abhijith maintained a consistent performance inside the top five.

Comfortable finish seals home victory
By Lap 6, Kasma had stretched his advantage to more than 2.7 seconds over Adenanta. Although the Indonesian rider continued to push and recorded an impressive top speed of 291.90 km/h on Lap 9, he was unable to reduce the gap to the race leader.
On the final lap, Kasma remained calm and controlled at the front of the field. Behind him, Adam successfully defended third place from teammate Azlan Shah despite late pressure.
Kasma crossed the finish line first with a winning time of 21 minutes 29.916 seconds. Adenanta secured second place in 21:33.136, while Adam completed the podium in 21:35.977.
Kasma targets further improvements ahead of ARRC
Following his victory, Kasma expressed his satisfaction after achieving his main objective for the weekend while acknowledging there is still room for improvement.
“Alhamdulillah, winning was definitely my target coming into this race. We knew Adenanta was not at 100% yet, especially after the injury he suffered during the Suzuka 8 Hours, but I see this as a good training opportunity for both of us as we prepare for ARRC Round 4.”
The Yamaha rider admitted he was unable to ride at his maximum pace throughout the race but remained pleased with the overall result.
“During the race, I wasn’t able to push as much as I wanted, and my pace was not quite at the level of my usual lap times. However, Alhamdulillah, I’m still very grateful to have secured the victory. The race was a good test for me, and it gave me valuable feedback on where we need to improve.”
Kasma also thanked his team for their continued support throughout the race weekend.
“A huge thank you to my team for their hard work, dedication and continuous support throughout the weekend. This victory gives us great confidence and motivation as we continue preparing for the next challenge ahead.”
The victory gives Kasma valuable momentum as he shifts his attention towards ARRC Round 4, where he hopes to carry his winning form onto the international stage.
