Marc Marquez delivered another masterclass at the Sachsenring on Sunday, cruising to victory in the 2026 German MotoGP Grand Prix and equalling Giacomo Agostini’s record of 10 premier-class victories at a single circuit.
Starting from pole position, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider controlled the race from start to finish, crossing the finish line 1.996 seconds ahead of Trackhouse Aprilia’s Ai Ogura, while Ogura’s teammate Raul Fernandez completed the podium after another impressive outing for the American squad.
The victory marked another significant step in Marquez’s title defence as he headed into the MotoGP summer break having reduced the gap to championship leader Jorge Martin to just 18 points.
Marquez had described his physical condition as his “biggest rival” before the race weekend, with the Spaniard still managing the effects of his arm injury. However, once the lights went out, there was little anyone could do to stop the seven-time MotoGP world champion from extending his remarkable Sachsenring record.

“The goal for the weekend was to attack in order to recover as many points as possible. We managed to do so on a track that suits my riding style very well,” said Marquez.
“I’m happy, but not completely happy. I would have loved to see Alex on the podium given the pace he had. Now it’s time for the summer break. I’d like to rest because this first half of the season was very demanding, but at the same time we need to make a step forward with my right arm,” he added.
The opening laps featured an entertaining battle between Marc and his younger brother Alex Marquez, who started from second on the grid. However, the contest ended prematurely when the Gresini Ducati rider crashed at Turn 13 on lap 10 while chasing the race leader.
From that point onwards, Marc never looked threatened as he comfortably extended his advantage to claim another Sachsenring triumph.

Behind him, Trackhouse Aprilia enjoyed one of its strongest weekends of the season. Ogura fought his way past teammate Fernandez to secure second place after both riders capitalised on the early retirements of Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
The podium result lifts the Japanese rookie to second in the championship standings with 194 points, further underlining his impressive debut MotoGP campaign.
Fernandez was equally delighted with his third-place finish, who shared: “I never thought that I would be able to make a podium here in Sachsenring, especially in MotoGP,” he admitted after the race.

Pedro Acosta finished fourth for KTM ahead of championship leader Jorge Martin, while Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia crossed the line in sixth following an intense battle with Martin during the closing laps.
The race weekend was less fortunate for Marco Bezzecchi, who missed Sunday’s Grand Prix after suffering a fractured collarbone during qualifying on Saturday. Aprilia later confirmed the Italian successfully underwent surgery and is hopeful of returning for the next round.
MotoGP will now take its traditional summer break before returning for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, scheduled for 7-9 August, where the championship battle is expected to intensify as Marquez continues his pursuit of Martin at the top of the standings.
