Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn. Bhd. (MODENAS), a subsidiary of the DRB-HICOM Group, has introduced the 2026 Modenas Elegan EX 250 for the Malaysian market, featuring three new colour options alongside a complimentary GIVI top box for every purchase.

The refreshed maxi-scooter is now available in Light Sage Green, Matte Brown, and Bright Grey Blue, giving buyers more choices while maintaining the model’s touring-focused character. Priced at RM17,780, the 2026 Elegan EX 250 sees a slight RM80 increase over the previous model’s RM17,700 price tag. The price excludes road tax, insurance and registration fees.

As part of the launch promotion, every purchase comes with a GIVI top box worth RM500, subject to terms, conditions and stock availability. The scooter is backed by a two-year or 20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects, with units now arriving at authorised MODENAS dealerships nationwide from July 2026.

Apart from the new colours, the 2026 Elegan EX 250 remains mechanically unchanged. Power comes from a 249cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection (EFI) that complies with Euro 4 emissions standards.

The engine produces 22.4 hp at 7,000 rpm and 22.4 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, with power delivered to the rear wheel through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The Elegan EX 250 continues to feature Bosch two-channel ABS as standard, paired with a 260 mm hydraulic disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear.

Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock, while the scooter rides on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels, offering a balance between stability and urban manoeuvrability. Designed as a practical everyday maxi-scooter, the Elegan EX 250 retains its generous list of convenience features.

A USB charging socket is located inside the front storage compartment, while the instrument cluster combines analogue speedometer and tachometer dials with a centrally mounted monochrome LCD display. The screen provides information including the odometer, fuel level, engine temperature, voltmeter, clock and service reminder.

LED lighting is fitted throughout, while the scooter carries 12.4 litres of fuel in a tank located beneath the floorboard. Kerb weight remains at 198 kg.

According to Roslan Roskan, Chief Executive Officer of MODENAS, the refreshed Elegan EX 250 continues to target riders seeking a comfortable and practical scooter for daily use.

He said the updated styling, together with the complimentary GIVI top box, enhances the scooter’s value proposition while improving convenience for owners.

Roslan added that the additional luggage capacity makes the Elegan EX 250 even more suitable for a wide range of riding scenarios, from daily commuting and work duties to weekend leisure rides and longer-distance touring.

With fresh styling, practical features and only a marginal price increase, the 2026 Modenas Elegan EX 250 remains one of the more affordable 250cc maxi-scooters available in the Malaysian market.
