In the world of motorsports, Spain’s Juanfran Guevara has made his decision to retire from Moto3 after five spectacular seasons of racing. Guevara made his debut in 2012 at the age of 17 and has been through five full-time seasons since then. This year was his strongest year with the sterling result of a podium finish at Mugello, making him 11th in the championship standings.

Now 22, Guevara was set on competing for another season in 2018 to snag a hat trick for the RBA BOE team but the Spaniard decided to change his mind instead and chose to retire from the sport. One of the main reasons for his decision was financial issues but also, the young gun chose to focus on his studies compared to racing.

“It was a very hard decision that I made with the help of my family, the directors of the fan club and my main sponsors, who have supported me throughout these years,” said Guevara.

“My passion for motorcycling has not changed at all, but different economic and mainly personal reasons led me to this decision.”

“I have decided to focus my career on business studies that I have been doing all these years while competing in the Moto3 world championship.

“A point has arrived where I believe that I will be able to grow more as a person and dedicate more time to different projects that I have been developing over the last few years and until now I haven’t been able to give enough time to.”

Currently, the team comprises of only Gabriel Rodrigo. There is no news on Guevara’s replacement yet and the spot remains vacant. Stay tuned for the updates.
