MotoGP Extends Partnership with Sportian

Long-Standing Collaboration Aims to Combat Piracy with Advanced AI-Powered Technologies and Maintain Over 90% Removal Rate of Illegal Content.

MotoGP has announced the extension of its long-term partnership with Sportian, the sports division of Globant, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat digital piracy. Enabled by LALIGA, co-founder of Sportian, this collaboration has already achieved significant success in removing up to 99% of pirated content across digital platforms. Over the next phase, the partnership will explore the integration of AI-powered technologies to further enhance anti-piracy measures and maintain these high standards.

Since its inception over five years ago, the partnership has successfully tracked and removed illegal broadcasts across social media, apps, video-on-demand (VOD) services, search engines, and illegal streaming sites. Sportian’s Piracy Guard, a cutting-edge anti-piracy solution, has set a new benchmark in the fight against sports piracy, combining powerful detection tools with expert analyst oversight to identify and remove unauthorized streams in real-time.

Piracy Guard provides MotoGP with both reactive removal of illegal content and proactive monitoring for emerging threats. Over the next year, Sportian plans to fine-tune these services by leveraging automation and predictive analytics to adapt to evolving piracy tactics. The partnership will also explore the integration of AI and machine learning technologies to enhance the detection and categorization of pirated content, ensuring MotoGP remains at the forefront of the fight against audiovisual theft.

MotoGP continues to achieve remarkable growth, surpassing 3 million spectators in 2024 for the first time in the sport’s history. The championship has also reported impressive increases in global TV viewership and digital engagement. This success is underpinned by MotoGP’s commitment to protecting its content and ensuring fans enjoy the sport through official channels.

Piracy Guard, developed from the in-house piracy team of LALIGA, holds partnerships with over 70 of the world’s largest online platforms and boasts Google TCRP certification. The solution routinely achieves a removal rate of over 90%, while gathering valuable insights to support legal actions and dynamic blocking orders.
