The Racing for Valencia recovery fund has officially surpassed an incredible milestone, with MotoGP confirming a total contribution of €1.6 million. The funds, raised through a combination of fundraising initiatives and direct donations, will support the recovery efforts for the towns of Cheste and Chiva, located near Circuit Ricardo Tormo, the usual host of MotoGP’s season finale.
This remarkable total stems from multiple sources, including on-site and online auctions of exclusive memorabilia and experiences, which brought in over €300,000 (RM 1.3 million), thanks to the generosity of MotoGP riders, teams, and partners. A further €100,000 came from IRTA (International Road-Racing Teams Association), while the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce contributed €50,000.
MotoGP fans played a pivotal role, with contributions via ticket sales, merchandise purchases, and participation in fundraising events during the sold-out Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona. Their unwavering support inspired Dorna Sports, the rights holder of MotoGP, to add an extraordinary €1 million to the fund, ensuring a lasting impact on the affected communities.
The Solidarity GP, held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, not only marked the conclusion of a record-breaking MotoGP season but was also named the Best GP of 2024. The event’s success, driven by maximum-capacity attendance and widespread support, underscored MotoGP’s ability to unite its global community for a meaningful cause.
The €1.6 million raised will directly benefit the economic recovery of Cheste and Chiva, recognizing their vital role in MotoGP’s history and their enduring hospitality. This initiative highlights MotoGP’s dedication to creating a positive impact both on and off the track, reinforcing its strong ties to the communities that make each race possible.
