MotoGP has officially extended its partnership with Silverstone Circuit through the end of the 2028 season, ensuring that the British Grand Prix will remain on the FIM MotoGP World Championship calendar for another two years.

The announcement comes ahead of this weekend’s 2026 British Grand Prix, highlighting the continued collaboration between MotoGP and Silverstone while reinforcing the United Kingdom’s importance as one of the championship’s key markets.

Since MotoGP returned to Silverstone in 2010, the historic circuit has hosted some of the sport’s most thrilling races and welcomed more than two million fans. Over the years, the British Grand Prix has become one of the UK’s premier motorsport events, attracting passionate fans and showcasing the world’s best motorcycle racers.

The new agreement reflects a shared commitment to further enhance the British Grand Prix by improving the fan experience, strengthening the event’s global appeal, and supporting the continued growth of MotoGP in the UK and international markets.

The extension also arrives during a period of strong momentum for MotoGP, with the championship continuing to expand its worldwide audience through exciting on-track competition and increasing fan engagement across digital platforms.

MotoGP Group CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta welcomed the extension, describing the UK as one of the sport’s most significant markets: “The UK has a rich motorcycle racing heritage and remains one of the most important markets for MotoGP. Since returning to Silverstone in 2010, we have built a strong partnership and together delivered some unforgettable British Grand Prix weekends.”

“Silverstone provides a fantastic stage for MotoGP. Eleven different winners in the last eleven Grands Prix hosted at the circuit is a testament to the quality, competitiveness and unpredictability of racing at the circuit. This extension gives us the opportunity to keep investing in the event, strengthen our presence in the UK and create even more value for our fans, teams, partners and promoters over the coming years,” he added.

Meanwhile, Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle also emphasized the significance of the renewed partnership and the circuit’s position as a leading global motorsport venue.

“This extension underscores our commitment to two-wheel racing. It’s not just about signing a contract; it’s about reaffirming our vision. Silverstone has proven its capability to host the pinnacle of global motorsport, from MotoGP to Formula 1 and the FIA World Endurance Championship. This renewed partnership secures our place as the UK’s undisputed home of elite international racing. Extending our relationship is confirmation of our shared commitment to delivering the ultimate high-speed experience for fans here in Britain,” he stated.

As one of the longest-standing and most iconic races on the MotoGP calendar, the British Grand Prix continues to play a major role in the championship’s history. With the partnership now secured through 2028, MotoGP and Silverstone are well positioned to continue building the event’s legacy while delivering world-class racing for fans in the years ahead.

The next British Grand Prix is expected to take place in August 2027, with additional event details set to be announced at a later date.
