Kawasaki has secured the 2024 FIM Supersport 300 World Championship Manufacturers’ title with a round to spare after a dominant season with their Ninja 400. The title marks Kawasaki’s sixth in WorldSSP300, having now won back-to-back championships, further cementing their supremacy in the class.
With riders from multiple Kawasaki teams contributing to the success, Kawasaki racked up an impressive 10 wins and 22 podium finishes across 14 races. Inigo Iglesias from Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki and Loris Veneman from MTM Kawasaki, both still in contention for the Riders’ Championship, have played pivotal roles, contributing five wins between them.
Other standout performances came from Mirko Gennai also from MTM Kawasaki, who claimed three victories, as well as Daniel Mogeda (Team#109 Retro Traffic Kawasaki) with two wins. Petr Svoboda and his injury replacement Carter Thompson (Fusport-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki), along with Kevin Sabatucci (Team Flembbo-PL Performances), also added crucial points to Kawasaki’s campaign.
Kawasaki’s title victory was confirmed at MotorLand Aragon, where their unassailable 302 points gave them a 72-point lead over Yamaha with just 50 points left to play for in the final round at Jerez.
Steve Guttridge, Race Planning Manager at Kawasaki Motor Europe, commented on the achievement: “Kawasaki is proud to add another Manufacturers’ Championship in WorldSSP300. The credit goes to our teams and riders who delivered strong and consistent results on the Ninja 400. This Championship offers excitement and a ladder of opportunity for aspiring riders, and we’ll celebrate now before making plans for more titles.”
While Kawasaki has wrapped up the Manufacturers’ title, the fight for the Riders’ Championship heads into a thrilling showdown at Jerez. Yamaha rider Aldi Mahendra (Team BrCorse) holds a 16-point lead over Veneman, with Iglesias trailing by 32 points.
Although Mahendra has the upper hand, Kawasaki is still in with a chance to claim both the Riders’ and Teams’ Championships. MTM Kawasaki currently leads the Teams’ standings heading into the Spanish Round finale.
With everything on the line at Jerez, Kawasaki will be looking to cap off their stellar season with even more silverware.
