The CP150 category race at Round 4 of the 2026 PETRONAS MAM Malaysian Cub Prix saw dramatic action as TAB SPORTS SCK HONDA RACING rider, Md Irfan Haykhal Amidi, ended his long wait to claim his first win of the season. Irfan staged a remarkable comeback after making a mistake at the start of the race before beating some of the country’s best riders at the Penang State Stadium Circuit.
The 20-lap race began with pole-sitter Azroy Hakeem Anuar from HONDA CASTROL POWER 1 YUZY RACING making a brilliant start to take the lead. However, luck was not on Irfan’s side when the front off of his machine lifted off the ground just as the race began, causing him to drop to fourth place behind Azroy and two PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA MAJU MOTOR riders, Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin and Nazirul Izzat Md Bahauddin.
The first half of the race was dominated by a fierce competition between Azroy and Kasma. Both riders posted the fastest times, with Kasma constantly putting close pressure on the race leader. Behind them, Irfan did not give up and began to consistently chase the front group.

Irfan’s efforts began to pay off by lap 10 when he managed to close the gap and join the leading group. At that time, the top three riders managed to leave the second group with a lead of almost four seconds, making the fight for victory even more exciting.
The highlight of the race came on lap 15 when Irfan launched an aggressive attack to overtake Kasma and take second place. A few laps later, he recorded the fastest time of the race, 53.129 seconds on lap 18, before overtaking Azroy to seize the lead.
Irfan continued to maintain his excellent pace until the finish line despite being pushed hard by Azroy in the final moments. He emerged victorious with a time of 17 minutes 52.569 seconds, while Azroy finished the race in second place with a time of 17 minutes 53.016 seconds, just 0.447 seconds behind. Kasma completed the podium in third place with a time of 17 minutes 55.765 seconds.
Meanwhile, the race for fourth place was won by Nazirul Izzat Md Bahauddin with a time of 18 minutes 01.947 seconds, beating Irfan’s teammate, Md Helmi Azman, who finished the race in fifth position.

After the race, Irfan expressed his gratitude for the victory, which he considered quite meaningful in his career.
“Alhamudlillah for the blessing of victory in this round. The wait to achieve success like this took quite a long time. I dedicate this victory especially to my beloved family and the entire team who always believe in my talent. Thank you also to the mechanics who provided such perfect adjustments to the machinery.”
He also admitted that the race tested his mental toughness after a mistake at the start of the race.
“Today’s race was really thrilling. I made a mistake when the front tire lifted at the start, which dropped me to fourth place. I just focused on staying calm and catching up with the riders in front.”
Irfan also revealed that he almost had an accident while trying to catch up with the leading group.
“I almost fell because I pushed the machine too hard, but I managed to control the situation. After successfully joining the front group on lap 10, I saw an opportunity to attack. Alhamdulillah, all my efforts today were finally worth it when I managed to cross the finish line as the champion.”
This maiden victory not only ended Irfan’s long wait, but also proved his ability to bounce back from early mistakes and beat the main contenders in the CP150 category. The result is expected to give the TAB SPORTS SCK HONDA RACING rider a boost of confidence as he faces the remainder of the 2026 PETRONAS MAM Malaysian Cub Prix season.
