Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas) has achieved a major milestone in its motorsports programme after the Z15GT model secured its first-ever podium finish in the Sprinta Pro-Am Cup category of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship 2026.
The breakthrough came through Raynorton Motorsport rider Md Firdaus Mohd Hamdan, who finished second at Round 6 of the championship held at LYL International Karting Circuit, Selangor, on 10 October 2026.
Starting from 16th on the grid, Firdaus delivered an impressive comeback over the eight-lap race to climb 14 positions and secure a place on the podium. He crossed the finish line just 5.812 seconds behind race winner Md Aliff Aiman Tumiran, who competed on a Yamaha Y15ZR.
Firdaus finished ahead of Md Harith Rosmaza, riding a Voge FR150, who took third place. The second-place finish earned Firdaus 20 championship points and marked the first podium result for the Z15GT in the competition.
The achievement is particularly significant for Modenas, which returned to the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship in 2026 through a collaborative racing programme involving four independent teams competing in the Pro-Am category.

Since the start of the season, Modenas has supported Raynorton Motorsport, Maju Mega Bike Racing Team, MC Tajam Racing Team and DF Racing Team in their respective campaigns using the Z15GT.
The programme aims to provide independent racing teams and local riders with opportunities to develop their competitive skills while showcasing the Malaysian-developed motorcycle in local motorsports.
Modenas Chief Executive Officer Roslan Roskan stated, “This is an important milestone for the Z15GT and everyone involved in our Cub Prix programme. To see Firdaus bring the motorcycle from 16th on the grid to second place is something we can all be proud of.”
Roslan also credited Firdaus and the Raynorton Motorsport team for their commitment throughout the season, adding that their performance reflected the dedication and capabilities of Malaysia’s local racing community.
Meanwhile, Raynorton Motorsport Team Principal Syafie said the podium finish was a significant achievement for the team after months of hard work.
“Starting from 16th position was never going to be easy, but Firdaus delivered a fantastic result. This podium means a great deal to our entire team, especially after all the hard work throughout the season,” Syafie added.
Beyond the podium result, the achievement represents an encouraging step in Modenas’ renewed participation in competitive racing with the Z15GT. Through its partnerships with independent teams, the company aims to support local racing talent, strengthen its presence in Malaysian motorsports and gain valuable experience from competition.
With two rounds remaining in the 2026 Malaysian Cub Prix Championship, the Z15GT’s first podium finish provides positive momentum for Modenas and its partner teams as they continue their campaigns.
