Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn. Bhd. (MODENAS) has officially announced its return to the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship for the 2026 season, marking its first direct involvement in nearly a decade. The national manufacturer will campaign its latest model, the Modenas Z15GT, in the Pro-Am category as part of its renewed push into grassroots motorsports.
According to CEO Roslan Roskan, the decision to return to Cub Prix aligns with the introduction of the Z15GT, which is fully developed at MODENAS’ facility in Gurun, Kedah. He expressed confidence that the model is capable of delivering competitive performance on track, making it a suitable platform for racing development.
For the 2026 season, MODENAS will collaborate with four teams in the Pro-Am category; Raynorton Motorsport, Maju Mega Bike Racing Team, MC Tajam Racing Team and DF Racing Team. The selection of teams was based on performance track record, technical capability and long-term development potential.

Roslan explained that MODENAS is taking a gradual approach by starting with existing teams and infrastructure before considering expansion into higher-level categories such as CP150 in the future. He added that rider selection will be handled by the respective teams to ensure better compatibility between rider and machine.
Chief Marketing Officer Jin Inoue described the Z15GT’s entry into Cub Prix as an important step in demonstrating the model’s real-world performance capabilities.
He noted that the Z15GT is positioned as one of the most powerful machines in its class, and its presence in competition is expected to deliver exciting and competitive racing throughout the season.

Adding further excitement, Eastel TKKR Racing Team has also confirmed its return to the Cub Prix scene, competing in the premier CP150 category using the same Modenas Z15GT machinery.
The comeback coincides with the introduction of new telco brand Eastel (MVNO), which aims to connect with the motorcycle community and younger generation through motorsports.
Team Principal Adam Fiqrie indicated that the team will leverage its previous championship-winning experience at the Asian level to prove that a locally developed machine can compete against established rivals.
With MODENAS making a long-awaited return and TKKR stepping back into the spotlight, the 2026 Malaysian Cub Prix season is shaping up to be highly competitive. The championship curtain is set to rise at Tangkak Circuit, Johor, later this month, with anticipation already building ahead of the opening round.
