Round 6 of the PETRONAS MAM Malaysian Cub Prix 2026 Championship at the LYL International Karting Circuit presented thrilling night racing action when Azroy Hakeem Anuar from HONDA CASTROL POWER1 YUZY RACING succeeded in emerging as the CP150 class champion after enduring a fierce battle throughout the race.
Azroy started the race with flying colours after taking pole position in the Shoot Out session. He continued to dominate the race once the green light went out, closely followed by teammate Shahrol Syazras Shahrol Yuzy, who also put pressure on the front group.
However, the race took a dramatic turn as early as the third lap when the winner of Round 5, Md Helmi Azman from TAB SPORTS SCK HONDA RACING, was involved in a fall that opened up space for other riders to seize the front position.
The real battle began midway through the race when Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA MAJU MOTOR recorded the fastest time of 1’11.316 seconds to close the gap on the leader. Kasma managed to overtake Azroy on lap 13, but the Honda rider didn’t wait for long before reclaiming first place.
Entering the final lap, Kasma continued to apply pressure as he managed to narrow the gap to just 0.200 seconds. However, Azroy increased his machine’s pace in the final moments to widen the gap to 2.311 seconds before crossing the finish line with a time of 19’14.971 seconds, thus securing a valuable victory in the night’s race.
Kasma finished the race in second place with a time of 19’17.282 seconds, while Md Haziq Md Fairues from IDEMITSU HONDA YAM RACING completed the podium in third place with a time of 19’23.347 seconds.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Darwisy Ahmad Sahir from HONDA CASTROL POWER1 YUZY RACING finished the race in fourth place, successfully beating Md Akid Aziz from VOGE RACING TEAM, who finished in fifth place.
After the race, Azroy expressed his gratitude for being able to return to the top of the podium after the incident that befell him in Round 5: “I was a bit nervous at the start because I didn’t want a repeat of that incident, but alhamdulillah I got a good launch and stayed consistent throughout.”
He also revealed that his machine experienced some technical problems during the race: “My bike experienced a minor TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) issue that caused a power drop, which allowed Kasma to close in and make a pass. However, once I reclaimed the lead, I pushed as hard as I could to pull away.”
According to Azroy, night racing presents different challenges compared to regular racing, but he praised his team’s efforts in successfully providing the best machinery.
“Racing at night was really exciting. Even though the glare from the circuit lights posed a challenge for vision and the lower temperatures tested our machine setup, credit goes to the team for doing an outstanding job this weekend.”
