Suzuki gave Malaysian motorcycle enthusiasts a glimpse of its latest middleweight offering at KLIMS 2026 with the public debut of the all-new Suzuki SV-7GX.

Although the motorcycle has yet to be officially launched in Malaysia, Suzuki confirmed that the model is being evaluated for the local market, with availability and pricing to be announced at a later date.

The SV-7GX was among the highlights at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, drawing attention from visitors looking for a versatile machine that blends sporty performance with everyday practicality.

At the core of the SV-7GX is Suzuki’s well-known 645cc 90-degree V-twin engine, derived from the popular SV650 currently sold in Malaysia. The liquid-cooled engine produces 73 hp at 8,500 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,800 rpm, delivering the strong mid-range performance that has made the SV platform a favourite among riders worldwide.

For the SV-7GX, Suzuki has refined the intake and exhaust systems to improve combustion efficiency, sharpen throttle response and comply with the latest Euro 5+ emissions regulations. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter, allowing clutchless upshifts and downshifts for a more engaging riding experience.

One of the biggest upgrades over the traditional SV650 comes in the electronics department. The SV-7GX features a ride-by-wire throttle system that enables Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), offering three riding modes: A (Active) for sporty riding, B (Basic) for everyday use and C (Comfort) for smoother power delivery.

The SV-7GX comes equipped with standard traction control to improve rider stability across different surfaces. Within the cockpit, a new 4.2-inch full-color TFT display provides smartphone integration, enabling riders to view mobile notifications and utilize turn-by-turn navigation during their trip.

A USB-C charging port is also conveniently positioned beside the display, ensuring devices remain powered throughout longer journeys.

Unlike the naked SV650, the SV-7GX adopts a more touring-oriented approach. Standard equipment includes handguards, a manually adjustable three-stage windscreen, and a rear cargo box, making the bike more suitable for long-distance riding and daily commuting alike.

The motorcycle also features a generous 17.4-litre fuel tank, helping to maximise riding range between fuel stops. Seat height is a rider-friendly 795 mm, while total weight is listed at 211 kg.

The SV-7GX rides on 17-inch aluminium wheels fitted with Pirelli tyres at both ends. Suspension duties are handled by 41 mm telescopic front forks offering 125 mm of travel, while the rear receives a preload-adjustable monoshock with 129 mm of travel.

Ground clearance is measured at 135 mm, giving the bike a lower stance compared to adventure-oriented models such as the V-Strom 650XT. Braking performance comes courtesy of twin 290 mm front discs paired with four-piston Tokico calipers, while the rear uses a 240 mm disc and single-piston caliper. Dual-channel ABS is fitted as standard.

SV-7GX

Although Suzuki Malaysia has yet to announce official pricing, market observers expect the SV-7GX to be positioned close to the current SV650, which retails at RM29,900. This suggests the new model could arrive with a price tag slightly above RM30,000 when it eventually reaches local showrooms.

Globally, the motorcycle is produced in two distinct colour schemes: Pearl Matte Greige and a combination of Pearl Brilliant White / Metallic Triton Blue.

With its combination of V-twin character, modern electronics and touring practicality, the Suzuki SV-7GX could become an attractive option for riders seeking a versatile middleweight motorcycle once it officially arrives in Malaysia.
