Malaysian rising star Hakim Danish Ramli delivered a stunning performance to secure his first-ever Moto3 World Championship victory at the Czech Republic Grand Prix, becoming the first Malaysian rider in nearly a decade to stand on the top step of a MotoGP podium.
The historic triumph at the Automotodrom Brno marked a major milestone for Malaysian motorsport, ending a wait that dates back to Khairul Idham Pawi’s memorable Moto3 victory at Sachsenring in 2016. It was also an incredible achievement considering it was Hakim Danish’s first appearance at the iconic Czech circuit.
Record-Breaking Pace Throughout the Weekend
Hakim Danish showed his potential from the very beginning of the race weekend, setting the pace at Brno and rewriting the circuit’s all-time Moto3 lap record on two occasions.
The AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSi rider first posted a lap time of 2:04.938 during Free Practice 1 before lowering the benchmark even further to 2:04.754 during the practice session.
His impressive speed immediately established him as one of the strongest contenders for a podium finish heading into race day.

Overcoming a Grid Penalty to Fight Back
Despite his pace, Hakim Danish faced a major setback after qualifying when he was handed a 12-place grid penalty for riding slowly in several sectors during Q2.
The penalty dropped him from second on the grid to 14th for the race, leaving him with a difficult task if he wanted to challenge for victory.
However, the Malaysian rider responded brilliantly. After a strong start, he quickly carved his way through the field and broke into the top five by lap four.
Although he briefly slipped back to seventh position during the early stages of the race, Hakim Danish remained composed and steadily worked his way back toward the front group.
Last-Lap Heroics Seal Historic Victory
As the race entered its final stages, Hakim Danish found himself battling with several front-runners, including Brian Uriarte of Red Bull KTM Ajo and David Almansa of Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP.
He also kept himself within striking distance of race leader Maximo Quiles from the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team.
The decisive moment came on the final lap when an intense battle between Quiles and Uriarte created a small opening at the front. Hakim Danish seized the opportunity perfectly, launching a late attack to overtake both riders and cross the finish line in first place.
The victory sparked celebrations for Malaysian motorsport fans worldwide and marked one of the most memorable moments of the 2026 Moto3 season.

Big Boost in the Moto3 World Championship Standings
The victory earned Hakim Danish the maximum 25 points and propelled him to seventh place in the Moto3 World Championship standings with 73 points.
Meanwhile, Maximo Quiles continues to lead the championship with 186 points, followed by Alvaro Carpe in second place with 121 points. Brian Uriarte occupies third position with 82 points.
The Brno victory also added to Hakim Danish’s growing list of achievements this season, following his maiden Moto3 podium at the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello, where he finished third.
Rookie of the Year Challenge Gathers Momentum
Hakim Danish’s breakthrough victory has also strengthened his position in the Moto3 Rookie of the Year standings.
The Malaysian currently sits third among the rookies with 73 points, just nine points behind Indonesia’s Veda Pratama, who occupies second place with 82 points.
Uriarte remains the leading rookie with 92 points, but Hakim Danish’s latest performance has firmly placed him in contention for the prestigious award.

Hakim Danish: “This Victory Is Very Special”
Speaking after the race, Hakim Danish described the victory as one of the proudest moments of his career.
“This is a very special victory for me, my team, and all Malaysian supporters. It wasn’t an easy weekend because we faced several challenges, but I never stopped believing in myself and the hard work we put in together.
I’m extremely grateful to achieve my first Moto3 World Championship victory. It’s difficult to describe how I feel right now. I’m very happy and proud to deliver this result for everyone who has supported me.”
The young Malaysian also revealed that patience and race management played a crucial role in securing the win.
“On the final lap, I gave everything and pushed the bike to its limit. The two riders ahead made a small mistake by running slightly wide, and I immediately took the opportunity to overtake them. Thankfully, the strategy worked and I crossed the finish line in first place.”
Zulfahmi Khairuddin Praises Historic Achievement
SIC Racing Team Manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin hailed the result as a significant moment for Malaysian motorsport and admitted he did not expect Hakim Danish to win a Grand Prix so early in his rookie campaign.
“Honestly, I didn’t expect Hakim Danish to win a Grand Prix race this early in his rookie season. However, I have always believed in his abilities.
Today, he proved that Malaysian riders are capable of competing and winning at the highest level of motorcycle racing.”
Zulfahmi added that the result validates years of effort invested in developing young Malaysian racing talent and demonstrates that the country has the potential to produce future world-class riders.
A New Chapter for Malaysian Motorsport
Hakim Danish’s victory at Brno represents far more than just a personal achievement. It signals the arrival of another Malaysian talent capable of making an impact on the world stage and reignites hopes of future success in MotoGP racing.
After nearly ten years of waiting to hear the Malaysian national anthem played from the top step of a MotoGP podium, the nation finally has a new hero to celebrate, and potentially a future championship contender in the making.
