Mechanic by day, and racer by weekend, 19-year-old Irfan Adenan blends passion and determination to make his mark in Malaysia’s premier motorcycle championship.

The recent finale round of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix at Stadium Batu Kawan, Pulau Pinang, was a thrilling showcase of skill and determination, highlighting the fierce competition among Malaysia’s top motorcycle talents.

Among the contenders was a familiar face to iMotorbike, 19-year-old Muhammad Irfan bin Adenan, whose passion for the sport is evident both on the track and behind the scenes.

Since joining iMotorbike as a mechanic in September, Irfan has brought his technical expertise and racing passion to the forefront. While he excels at maintaining motorcycles in the garage, he’s also making waves on the track as a privateer in Malaysia’s premier Cub Prix championship.

A Legacy of Racing

Irfan’s racing journey began in 2022 in the Wira KBS category, inspired by his father, Adenan, a former Cub Prix racer. This familial bond sparked his deep-rooted passion for motorcycles, which he channels not only through his racing but also in his work at iMotorbike, where his mechanical skills keep other riders on the road.

After advancing to the Pro-Am Cup in 2023, Irfan achieved an impressive 18th overall standing in a highly competitive field. This season, he expanded his horizons by competing in two categories: the Pro-Am Cup (riding a Honda RS150) and the CP125 category (on a Yamaha Lagenda 115FI).

Notable Achievements

Irfan’s determination paid off in Round 8, where he secured 3 championship points in the Pro-Am Cup, an admirable achievement for an independent rider without team sponsorship.

With only the unwavering support of his father, who serves as his mechanic, coach, and mentor, Irfan has managed to stay competitive. His career highlight so far remains a 6th-place finish at the Sepang Round in 2023.

Nonetheless, balancing his role as a mechanic at iMotorbike with his responsibilities as a Cub Prix racer is no easy feat. However, Irfan’s dual roles complement each other, as his hands-on experience in the garage deepens his understanding of the machines he races.

The Meaning Behind #25

Every racer’s number has a story, and Irfan’s #25 is no different. It symbolizes his position as the second child in a family of five siblings, reflecting the strength and support he draws from his family. Previously, he raced under #35 and briefly considered #73 to honour his father’s birth date before settling on the meaningful #25.

Looking Ahead

As the 2024 Malaysian Cub Prix season finale concluded last month at Stadium Batu Kawan, Pulau Pinang (23-24 November), Irfan delivered a praiseworthy performance, holding his own against a competitive field. With his focus now set on the 2025 season, he is determined to achieve greater heights.

At iMotorbike, we take pride in supporting individuals like Irfan, whose passion for motorcycles drives them both on and off the racetrack. His story is a testament to the powerful bond between rider and machine, whether in the workshop or on the grid.
