According to Toprak Razgatlioglu’s manager, Kenan Sofuoglu, the rider would like to leave WorldSBK for MotoGP next year
Toprak Razgatlioglu, the current leader of the 2024 World Superbike Championship, has expressed a strong desire to leave the Superbike World Championship at the end of this year and transition to MotoGP.
According to Speedweek.com, Razgatlioglu’s manager, Kenan Sofuoglu, has confirmed the interest in the MotoGP paddock, stating, “There is a lot of interest in Toprak in the MotoGP paddock, already for next year.”
Sofuoglu further elaborated, “We have a two-year contract with BMW, but I have already informed BMW that we want to leave the Superbike World Championship at the end of this year and move to MotoGP. I explained to them that this is Toprak’s wish.”
The Turkish rider’s ambition to join MotoGP has been clear, but Sofuoglu has consistently emphasised that the move would only be considered if Toprak could secure a position as a factory team rider. Potential 2025 options for Razgatlioglu could include Repsol Honda or Monster Yamaha, as the official Ducati, KTM and Aprilia teams were already full.
In May of last year, Razgatlioglu signed a two-year contract with BMW, valid until the end of 2025. The German manufacturer recently confirmed that the ROKiT factory team would continue with Razgatlioglu and Michael van der Mark next year.
Despite the existing contract, Razgatlioglu has long harboured dreams of racing in MotoGP. With limited seats available on the grid, it remains uncertain whether he will secure a position in the championship, but his interest and his determination indicate a strong possibility.
