MotoGP fans could soon see Johann Zarco back on track, as Castrol Honda LCR has confirmed that the French rider is set to return for the Michelin Grand Prix of Aragon. However, his participation will depend on successfully passing the mandatory medical examination scheduled for Thursday at the circuit.
If cleared, the Aragon GP will mark Zarco’s first race appearance since suffering an injury at the Catalan Grand Prix earlier this season.
Recovery Ahead of Schedule
Following a heavy crash in Barcelona, Zarco was diagnosed with ligament injuries in his left knee. The injury forced the #5 rider to sit out several MotoGP rounds while focusing on rehabilitation.
Initially, Zarco and his medical team decided against surgery, believing that a conservative recovery plan would offer the best long-term outcome. At the time, September was considered the most realistic target for his return to racing.
However, his rehabilitation has progressed faster than expected, allowing the experienced Frenchman to accelerate his comeback plans.

Back on Two Wheels
Over the past few weeks, Zarco has gradually increased the intensity of his training. As part of his recovery programme, he returned to riding both a supermoto machine and a Honda CBR1000RR to rebuild strength, confidence, and fitness before making a MotoGP return.
The positive progress has now earned him clearance to travel to MotorLand Aragon, where he will undergo the standard pre-race medical assessment required for injured riders.
A successful evaluation would see Zarco reunited with the Castrol Honda LCR team as they continue working to improve the Honda RC213V throughout the remainder of the 2026 MotoGP season.
Boost for Castrol Honda LCR
Zarco’s return comes as welcome news for Castrol Honda LCR. The French rider has played an important role in Honda’s ongoing development efforts this season, providing valuable feedback as the manufacturer continues to close the gap to its rivals.
Having an experienced rider back in the garage will be a significant boost for the team, especially during the crucial second half of the championship.
Although the medical check remains the final hurdle, all signs point towards Zarco making his long-awaited return to MotoGP action this weekend. Fans and the MotoGP paddock will certainly be eager to welcome the #5 back on the grid at Aragon.
