ZXMOTO continued its strong debut campaign in the World Supersport (WorldSSP) Championship after French rider Valentin Debise produced a stunning last-lap move to win Race 1 at the Hungarian round of the Superbike World Championship on Saturday.
The result marks the third victory of the season for ZXMOTO, highlighting the rapid progress of the Chinese manufacturer in its first year of WorldSSP competition.
Riding the ZXMOTO 820RR-RS, Debise started the race from fifth on the grid but gradually worked his way into contention as the race unfolded at the Hungarian circuit.
Late-race drama decides WorldSSP Race 1 in Hungary
By lap 13, long-time leader Roberto Garcia saw his race end in disappointment after crashing into the gravel under pressure from Can Öncü, forcing an early retirement and reshaping the fight at the front.
As the battle intensified, Albert Arenas and Debise closed in on Öncü, forming a tightly packed leading group in the closing stages. The gap between the trio continued to shrink as the laps ticked down, setting up a tense finale.
The decisive moment came on the final lap when Öncü ran deep into the Turn 12–13 chicane, losing crucial momentum. Debise immediately capitalised, carrying stronger exit speed through the final corners to complete the move and take the chequered flag in first place.
The victory also marks Debise’s first win since his double triumph at Portimão earlier in the season.
“I knew this track would be difficult for us, but the team kept telling me to stay patient and trust the process,” Debise said after the race. “This morning I still wasn’t fully comfortable with the bike, but the changes they made for the race helped me feel much better.”

Championship impact for rider and manufacturer
With this result, Debise climbs to third in the WorldSSP riders’ standings with 97 points, sitting behind Albert Arenas (125 points) and Jaume Masia (106 points).
ZXMOTO also strengthens its position in the manufacturers’ championship, moving to third place with a total of 99 points.
The Hungarian round continues with Race 2 scheduled for Sunday, where ZXMOTO will aim to build on its momentum and further establish itself as a competitive force in its debut season.
