The CP150 race in Round 5 of the PETRONAS MAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship 2025 served up an unforgettable spectacle as Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA MAJU MOTOR clinched a dramatic and emotional victory – a birthday gift he had promised for his mother.

The day started strong for the Yamaha camp with PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA – CKJ RACING’s Ahmad Afif Amran setting the tone in the Super Pole session, grabbing pole with a 49.073s lap. Teammate Kasma was just behind with 49.111s, followed by Danial Syahmi Ahmad Shahril in third at 49.302s.

The race began with Afif leading, trailed by Md Akid Aziz and Kasma, before Nazirul Izzat Md Bahauddin muscled into the lead. But the contest quickly descended into chaos. On Lap 3, both Akid and Md Idil Fitri Mahadi crashed out, prompting a red flag.

Racing resumed in a shortened 10-lap sprint, and from the restart, Nazirul wasted no time in attacking. But the race claimed more victims – Lap 7 saw Nazirul and Md Shafiq Rasol go down, shaking up the leaderboard yet again.

Afif capitalized, retaking the lead with Kasma hot on his heels. Danial maintained composure in third, fending off pressure from ATAS AHM MOTOR SPORTS’ Md Faiz Zekri Sabri.

The turning point came on Lap 12 when Kasma clocked the fastest lap of the race at 48.854s, overtaking Afif and setting up a heart-pounding final lap. With just 0.034s separating them at the finish line, Kasma sealed the win with a time of 22’41.557s. Danial’s consistent pace earned him third, marking a double podium for the MAJU MOTOR team.

“Today is my mother’s birthday and I really wanted to gift her a win,” said an emotional Kasma. “Alhamdulillah, I managed to fulfil that wish. The race was very intense – I admit there was contact, but that’s part of racing. If you want to win, you have to give it your all.”

As the championship heads into the second half of the season, Kasma remains focused. “There’s still a long way to go this season, so I’ll stay focused to maintain this momentum and go for more victories.”
