The Malaysia Bike Show 2026 at MAEPS Serdang was filled with new launches, concept motorcycles and some of the biggest names in the industry. Across three exhibition halls, visitors explored more than 300 motorcycles, future concepts and the latest technology from around the world.
Yet among all the machines on display, one motorcycle consistently attracted attention from visitors. It wasn’t a Ducati. It wasn’t a Yamaha. It wasn’t a Kawasaki. It was the red ZXMOTO 820RR.
Throughout the four-day exhibition, the ZXMOTO booth remained one of the busiest areas on the show floor. Visitors gathered around the motorcycle, taking photos and videos while trying to learn more about a brand that, until recently, many riders had never heard of.
What made the bike so special wasn’t just its aggressive styling or impressive specifications. It was what the motorcycle represents.

From Underdog to Winner
For decades, the motorcycle racing world has largely been dominated by manufacturers from Japan and Europe. Brands like Ducati, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and Triumph built their reputations through years of racing success. Chinese manufacturers, meanwhile, often faced skepticism. But somehow, that perception is now beginning to change.
Earlier this season, ZXMOTO stunned the motorcycle racing world when French rider Valentin Debise secured a historic double victory during the FIM Supersport World Championship round in Portugal.
The victories marked the first time a Chinese manufacturer had ever won a World Supersport race. Since then, ZXMOTO has continued its momentum, collecting five victories during the 2026 WorldSSP season and placing itself firmly in championship contention. Suddenly, the industry is paying attention.

The Man Behind the Dream
Behind ZXMOTO is founder Zhang Xue, a self-taught mechanic, former stunt rider and rally competitor. Many riders may not realise that Zhang was also one of the co-founders of Kove Moto before leaving the company to pursue a more ambitious goal, building a Chinese motorcycle capable of competing against the world’s best.
Indeed, it was a risky decision. Leaving behind an established business to start over is never easy. Yet Zhang believed Chinese engineering could compete on equal footing with the industry’s biggest names.
Years later, that belief is being rewarded. Following its racing success, ZXMOTO has expanded rapidly across international markets and made its global debut at EICMA in Milan, the world’s largest motorcycle exhibition. Meanwhile, Malaysia has also become one of the brand’s key markets through exclusive distributor MForce Bike Holdings.

Why Racing Success Matters
The reality is simple. Motorcycle racing remains one of the most powerful marketing tools in the industry and winning races creates credibility.
Without those victories, the ZXMOTO 820RR would likely still attract attention because of its styling and specifications. But racing success adds something far more valuable, meaning. The motorcycle is no longer just another new model entering the market.
It becomes a proven machine. A machine capable of defeating manufacturers that have spent decades building racing dynasties. That is why so many visitors stopped at the ZXMOTO booth during Malaysia Bike Show 2026. They weren’t just looking at a motorcycle. They were looking at a story.

Meet the ZXMOTO 820RR
At the centre of the brand’s growing popularity is the ZXMOTO 820RR, a middleweight supersport developed with racing firmly in mind. The motorcycle is powered by an 818.8cc inline three-cylinder engine producing between 135 hp and 150 hp depending on the variant.
It features a comprehensive electronics package that includes a six-axis IMU, cornering ABS, traction control, multiple riding modes, cruise control and a 6.2-inch TFT display.
The 820RR is available in three variants:
ZXMOTO 820RR
- 135 hp inline-three engine
- Aluminium frame
- Bosch electronic throttle
- TAISKO braking system
ZXMOTO 820RR-R
- Carbon fibre bodywork
- Forged aluminium wheels
- Titanium exhaust
- KYB suspension
- Brembo M50 brake calipers
ZXMOTO 820RR-RS
- Titanium engine internals
- Magnesium subframe
- Akrapovič exhaust
- Öhlins suspension
- Brembo GP4 calipers
Industry expectations suggest the motorcycle could be priced below RM50,000 when officially launched in Malaysia, potentially making it one of the most affordable high-performance three-cylinder supersports on the market.

A Wake-Up Call for the Industry?
Whether ZXMOTO can sustain its momentum remains to be seen. Racing success is difficult to achieve and even harder to maintain. However, one thing is already clear. The days when Chinese motorcycle manufacturers were dismissed as mere followers are rapidly fading.
ZXMOTO’s achievements in World Supersport demonstrate that innovation, investment and persistence can challenge even the most established brands. For riders, that’s good news. More competition means more choices, better technology and stronger value.
And for the rest of the motorcycle industry, ZXMOTO’s rise may serve as a reminder that the next major player doesn’t always come from where people expect. Sometimes, it comes from the challenger that nobody saw coming.
