Historic TT Circuit Assen recognised for outstanding fan experience, organisation and record attendance during its centenary celebrations.

The Motul Grand Prix of the Netherlands held at TT Circuit Assen has been officially named the Best Grand Prix of the 2025 MotoGP season, recognising the event’s exceptional organisation, fan experience and historic significance.
The prestigious award evaluates every aspect of a MotoGP weekend, including event organisation, paddock services, fan engagement and overall race atmosphere. Teams and key paddock stakeholders also take part in the voting process to determine the winner.
For 2025, the Dutch round stood out among the 22-race calendar, marking a special milestone as the event celebrated 100 years of motorcycle racing in Assen.
The circuit has a legendary status in the championship, hosting races since the very first season of the MotoGP World Championship in 1949. No other venue on the calendar has hosted more MotoGP races than Assen, earning it the nickname “The Cathedral of Speed.”
The 2025 edition of the Dutch Grand Prix also attracted more than 200,000 fans, setting a new attendance record for the event. Spectators enjoyed a packed weekend of racing action alongside entertainment activities both on and off the track, highlighting the event’s transformation into one of the largest sporting spectacles in the Netherlands.
Arjan Bos, Chairman of the Board at TT Circuit Assen, described the recognition as a tribute to the collective effort behind the event.
According to Bos, the Dutch Grand Prix is built around three key pillars: prioritising the needs of riders and teams, delivering the best possible experience for fans, and creating a unique atmosphere through entertainment elements such as live music, flypasts, fireworks and a spectacular opening ceremony. One of the event’s signature features is its podium presentation where the motorcycles rise dramatically on a lift.
Meanwhile, Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, said Assen holds a special place in the hearts of MotoGP fans worldwide.
He noted that the circuit has evolved into a modern venue that consistently delivers thrilling racing while maintaining its rich motorsport heritage. Ezpeleta also praised the organisers for continuing to attract record crowds and enhancing the event with new activities and entertainment for fans.
The Best Grand Prix trophy will officially be presented during the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix, just before the start of the race at Assen, as the iconic circuit prepares to once again host another chapter of MotoGP history.
