Yamaha’s back at it again with a refreshed version of their popular sport-tourer, the TRACER9 GT — and this time, it’s not just a paint job and a press release. Dropping in April 2025, this new model brings some seriously cool upgrades without messing with the engine we already know and love.
Same Engine, More Brains
Let’s get this out of the way first — the 2025 TRACER9 GT still runs on the tried-and-tested 888cc CP3 triple, pumping out 120 horsepower at 10,000 rpm. It’s smooth, quick, and makes just the right amount of noise when you want it to.
But Yamaha didn’t need to mess with the engine. Instead, they focused on making everything else around it a lot smarter.
The Face of the Future (Literally)
The first thing you’ll notice is the wild new front end. It’s rocking matrix LED headlights with a total of eight lenses and a built-in camera right in the middle. Sounds over the top? Maybe. But it works.
Here’s what it does:
- Automatically adjusts brightness depending on your surroundings
- Acts as cornering lights when you’re leaning into turns
- Turns on and off without you touching a thing
It’s the first bike in the world to do all that. So yeah, it’s a flex.

Suspension That Knows What’s Up
Yamaha also fine-tuned the electronic suspension. Now, when you start the bike, it gives you 30 seconds of softer damping to make it easier to manoeuvre from a standstill — super handy in car parks or tight spots.
Small tweak, big difference.
You Get a Say in How It Rides
The new ride modes are more customizable now, too. You’ve got five presets, and one fully customizable mode where you can adjust everything from throttle response to traction control. Perfect if you’re picky about how your bike handles in different conditions.
And if you’re worried about accidentally pushing too hard on the throttle, there’s a speed limiter built in that lets you cap your top speed. Think of it as cruise control’s more responsible cousin.

Touring Tech Done Right
Yamaha didn’t forget the touring crowd either. This bike’s stacked with rider-focused upgrades:
- A big, bright 7-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity
- A slick smart key system — no more digging through your pockets
- A motorized windscreen that moves up or down 100mm on the fly
- And auto-canceling turn signals (finally)
It’s all the small things that add up to a way more enjoyable ride.
Choose Your Vibe
The new TRACER9 GT comes in two new matte finishes:
- Matte Light Gray
- Matte Dark Gray
Both are understated, clean and just stealthy enough to match the bike’s futuristic tech.
What About the Fancier Versions?
Yamaha also has a few other TRACER models in the pipeline — like the GT+ with front and rear radar and the Y-AMT version with auto shifting. They’ve launched in Europe already, but Yamaha’s keeping quiet about when (or if) they’ll arrive in Japan or beyond.
Final Thoughts
The 2025 TRACER9 GT isn’t here to reinvent the wheel — but it is here to make your rides smoother, smarter, and more fun. With tech that works with you (not against you), and a ride that balances comfort with performance, this is a bike built for the long haul — or just the long way home.
If you love touring but want something that still feels sharp and modern, the new TRACER9 GT is definitely worth a look.
