Harley-Davidson Inc. has taken its dominance in the “King of the Baggers” racing series to the next level by introducing the 2025 CVO Road Glide RR—a high-performance, street-legal race replica with a staggering price tag of $110,000 (RM488,450). This marks the highest price Harley has ever charged for a motorcycle and underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation and racing heritage.
A Limited-Edition Powerhouse
The CVO Road Glide RR is built on Harley’s renowned touring platform but is significantly enhanced for performance. It features a 131-cubic-inch engine. The bike is capable of delivering an impressive 153 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque—making it the most powerful street bike Harley has ever produced. The exclusivity of this model is evident, with only 131 units being manufactured.
“This is a factory motorcycle,” said Jason Kehl, Harley’s director of racing, during a press event in Austin, Texas. “A project like this, an exclusive motorcycle, hand-built, 131 units only, wouldn’t be possible without the full support of the company.” Kehl emphasised that this level of factory-backed performance dates back to Harley’s first involvement in racing in 1914.

Born from the “King of the Baggers” Racing Series
The Mission King of the Baggers series pits heavyweight American touring motorcycles against one another in a high-speed, competitive setting. The series, organised by MotoAmerica, began as a single invitational event at Laguna Seca in 2020. However, it has since grown into a full-fledged championship with seven rounds and 14 races, including international exhibitions in Europe and Asia.
Harley is leveraging the popularity of this series with the CVO Road Glide RR, incorporating cutting-edge race technology into a street-legal package. The motorcycle features a 7075 aluminium swingarm and triple tree, which are stronger and more corrosion-resistant than 6061 aircraft-grade aluminium. The fairing, bodywork, and saddlebags are made from ultralight carbon fibre with a Kevlar weave, produced by a NASCAR supplier.

High-Performance Components from Industry Leaders
The CVO Road Glide RR packs top-tier racing components, including Brembo brakes and Öhlins FGR253 forks. Its Akrapovič titanium exhaust sheds 50 pounds over the stock setup.
“With this limited series of motorcycles, we’ve taken all the lessons from the track and created the pinnacle of street-legal bagger performance,” said Harley-Davidson CEO Jochen Zeitz in a statement.

A Contrast to Indian’s Challenger RR
The CVO Road Glide RR’s street-legal status sets it apart from its main rival, the Indian Challenger RR. Released in 2023 as a track-only model, the Challenger RR initially struggled in the market, with its 29-unit production run priced at $92,229. Several units remain available at reduced prices. One dealer in Pennsylvania is offering it for $84,995, highlighting Indian’s difficulties in selling a non-street-legal race replica.

Market Challenges and the Road Ahead
Despite this high-profile launch, Harley-Davidson faces financial headwinds. The company’s stock has dropped 32% over the past year as motorcycle sales declined for the third consecutive year. This was driven by rising prices and higher interest rates. Rival Polaris, the parent company of Indian Motorcycle, has fared even worse, with its stock plummeting 54% in the same period.
By introducing an exclusive, high-performance motorcycle like the CVO Road Glide RR, Harley-Davidson is not only capitalising on its racing success but also reaffirming its reputation for producing some of the most powerful and iconic motorcycles in the world. Whether this new model can revitalise sales remains to be seen, but it undoubtedly cements Harley’s position at the forefront of the bagger racing scene.
Our Take
If you’re a Harley enthusiast who loves performance and exclusivity, the CVO Road Glide RR is a dream bike. It’s Harley’s most serious attempt at blending its racing heritage with a street-legal package. However, at $110K, it’s a niche product, catering to collectors and die-hard fans rather than the average rider.
Would I get one? If I had the cash to spare, absolutely. But for most riders, a tricked-out Road Glide ST or a modded Indian Challenger would probably deliver a similar adrenaline rush for a lot less money. What about you?
