Ducati has officially kicked off its 2025 motocross campaign with a podium finish at the Internazionali d’Italia di Motocross EICMA Series, marking an impressive start to the season. Despite challenging conditions at the Miravalle di Montevarchi circuit, Mattia Guadagnini claimed third overall, securing the Italian manufacturer’s first trophy of the year.
The Miravalle di Montevarchi track was brutalized by heavy rainfall leading up to the event, leaving behind a slippery and icy surface. Thanks to extensive restoration efforts by the organizers, the race was able to proceed.
In timed practice, Guadagnini posted the eighth-fastest time, with teammate Jeremy Seewer close behind in tenth, both adapting well to the treacherous conditions.

Guadagnini launched into second place off the start in Race 1, battling hard throughout the moto to secure a third-place finish. Meanwhile, Seewer struggled with the arm pump, which hampered his performance, leaving him to finish in tenth place.
Then on Race 2, Once again, Guadagnini started strong, running in second before engaging in a thrilling battle for the lead. He ultimately secured third place, cementing his third overall podium finish of the event.
Seewer looked poised for a solid result, running in fourth place before a technical issue forced him to retire late in the race. Despite the setback, the Swiss rider remains positive about the team’s progress.
Mattia Guadagnini (3rd Overall): “How cool! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I missed this feeling so much, both on the podium and with the bike. In the first moto, I got some arm pump, and in the second heat I took a few wrong lines, but overall, I had fun. It was really nice. At the start, I was really excited and aggressive in the first laps – it has been a long time since I had this much fun. Let’s hope it’s the start of a great adventure. I’m happy, I’m really happy.”

Jeremy Seewer (DNF in Race 2): “Today we had good weather, but the track was brutal, with it being frozen and icy in the morning, so I didn’t go crazy because I didn’t want to hurt myself here. In the first moto, I had a lot of arm pumps and didn’t get the best start. I just didn’t get the feeling on this track and I didn’t want to push too hard and make a stupid mistake.”
“Moto two was really good, solid start, I was around the top four for a bit. I followed and caught Mattia, and then found a good pace to pass him, but then I had some technical issues, and that was it. Still, we made a good step. It was a positive moto in terms of my riding and bike setup. We know it’s a project, and we keep working.”
With Guadagnini’s podium finish, Ducati has laid a strong foundation for its motocross project in 2025. Despite Seewer’s technical setback, the team remains optimistic and will continue fine-tuning the Ducati Desmo450 MX as they prepare for the upcoming rounds.
The Internazionali d’Italia di Motocross serves as a crucial pre-season test for many top teams, and Ducati’s strong showing signals that they’re ready to be a competitive force in the motocross world.
