Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia has kicked off his 2025 FIM EnduroGP World Championship campaign in spectacular fashion, securing a dramatic Day 1 victory in Portugal before taking third on Day 2.

The Spanish star also dominated both days in the Enduro1 class, establishing an early championship lead despite competing just one month after breaking his collarbone in a training crash.

The Portuguese round became a true test of Garcia’s resilience when heavy rain transformed Friday night’s Super Test into a treacherous challenge. Starting last in the worsening conditions, Garcia still managed to post the ninth-fastest time.

He then exploded into action on Saturday, winning the opening test and engaging in an intense four-rider battle that saw him ultimately triumph by 4.79 seconds in EnduroGP while crushing the Enduro1 field by over a minute.

Day two brought new challenges when a cross-test mistake temporarily dropped Garcia to fourth, but the KTM 250 EXC-F rider fought back to claim third in EnduroGP and another commanding Enduro1 victory. His heroic performance leaves him just two points behind EnduroGP leader Zach Pichon while holding a six-point advantage in Enduro1.

“I’m so pleased with how this first round has gone,” said Garcia. “From being injured and requiring surgery just one month ago to taking the overall win on day one feels incredible. I had to really fight for it and gave my all.”

The championship now moves to Garcia’s home turf in Oliana, Spain from the 2nd until the 4th of May, where the determined Spaniard aims to continue his remarkable comeback story.

Results Highlights

  • EnduroGP Day 1: (P1) Garcia (KTM) 54:08.59, P2. Pichon (Sherco) +4.79

  • EnduroGP Day 2: (P3) Garcia (KTM) +10.63 behind winner (P1) Pichon
  • Current Standings: (2nd) in EnduroGP (35pts), (1st) in Enduro1 (40pts)
