Malaysia’s young talent, Farish Hafiy Farid Sezli, made an impressive podium finish by securing third place at the Asia Talent Cup (ATC) Championship held at the Mandalika International Circuit, Indonesia, last weekend.

In Race 1, Farish, starting from the third grid, had a strong start, leading the ATC Round 3 race on several occasions. However, he faced stiff competition from three Japanese riders, which caused him to drop to fourth before fighting his way back to the front in the final lap.

Despite being close to clinching his maiden ATC victory, Farish was overtaken by Japan’s Zen Mitani and Seiryu Ikegami in the final moments of the race. As he attempted to secure a podium spot, Farish nearly crashed when squeezed by Indonesian rider Kiandra Ramadhipa in the last corner.

Although he crossed the line in fourth place, Farish was promoted to third after Kiandra received a six-second penalty for dangerous riding. Kiandra’s penalty came after he was found responsible for causing an incident that led to Japanese rider Ryota Ogiwara’s fall just meters from the finish line.

In Race 2 on Sunday, Farish again showed his competitive form, often leading the front pack, similar to his performance in Race 1. However, a small error on the fourth-to-last lap caused him to lose pace with the leaders, ultimately finishing in P6. Fellow Malaysian riders Farhan Naqib and Asyraff Zaquan also earned championship points, finishing P14 and P15, respectively.

Following both races at the Mandalika International Circuit, Japan’s Zen Mitani strengthened his lead in the Asia Talent Cup standings, now sitting at the top with 140 points. His national teammate, Riichi Takahira, moved into second place with 90 points, while Indonesian rider Kiandra Ramadhipa dropped to third overall with 81 points.

Japan’s Ryota Ogiwara holds fourth position with 69 points, followed by Thailand’s Kiattisak Singhapong in fifth with 66 points. Malaysia’s Farish Hafiy Farid Sezli stays in sixth with 61 points after a solid performance in both races.

The team now looks forward to the 4th round of the Asia Talent Cup, which will take place at Japan’s Motegi Circuit from October 4 to 6.
