Norton Motorcycles is set for growth with new executive hires, upcoming model announcements, and market expansion. Richard Arnold and Brian Gillen join the team, bolstering the brand’s innovation and global reach.

Norton Motorcycles is set for a dynamic phase of growth and innovation, highlighted by strategic executive hires, upcoming model announcements, and a push into new markets. The latest addition to the leadership team is Richard Arnold, a name well-known in the sports world due to his tenure as CEO of Manchester United.

Arnold’s impressive track record at the Premier League club includes securing lucrative sponsorship deals. This includes as a $600 million (£500 million) kit deal with Chevrolet and a $1.3 billion (£1 billion) 10-year partnership with Adidas. Leveraging his commercial acumen, Arnold aims to help Norton, bolstered by TVS Motor Company’s £100 million-plus investment, achieve global recognition and commercial success.

Arnold’s appointment follows the recent hiring of Brian Gillen as Chief Technical Officer. Gillen brings a wealth of experience from MV Agusta, Magneti Marelli, and GasGas. At MV Agusta, he notably led the Reparto Corse racing division. This should bode well for Norton’s engineering and development aspirations.

New Models and Legacy Fulfillment

Norton’s press release highlights the fulfilment of outstanding orders from Norton Motorcycle UK Ltd (NMUL), the company’s previous iteration. This effort involved dissecting and rectifying faults in NMUL V4SS models, a task costing £2.3 million. The result is the re-engineered Commando 961 and new V4SV models, ensuring these bikes meet modern safety and performance standards.

Excitement is building as Norton hints at upcoming product unveilings. Beyond the Norton V4CR cafe racer and the updated legacy models, the new launches will be the first under TVS’s ownership. With Brian Gillen steering design and development and Richard Arnold enhancing commercial strategies, these new models are highly anticipated.

Statements from Leadership

Richard Arnold expressed his enthusiasm for his new role. He states that he sees a hugely exciting future for Norton Motorcycles and is proud to become part of the team. He believes that the investment made to date by TVS Motor Company has put Norton in an excellent position, ready to launch new products and develop a global sales proposition. Arnold is looking forward to using his experience to assist Norton in maximizing the opportunities ahead and helping the established commercial team deliver a world-class customer experience.

Norton Motorcycles CEO, Dr. Robert Hentschel, echoed this optimism by highlighting the £7 million investment in their state-of-the-art headquarters in Solihull, Birmingham. This investment allowed them to employ a dedicated team focused on an extensive quality improvement program. As a result, they can provide both legacy and new customers with the re-engineered V

4SV, Commando 961, and the new V4CR. Dr. Hentschel expressed pride in delivering motorcycles to NMUL and new customers. He noted the joy it brings to see their satisfaction firsthand. With recent progress and new leadership, Norton can now focus on the future. This includes new products and exploring global markets.
