SYM introduces three new models in Malaysia

The new SYM VF3i makes its world debut in Malaysia!

Taiwanese brand SYM has been working hard to reinforce its presence in the two-wheel market, and through the collaboration with MForce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd, who is the distributor for SYM in Malaysia, they’ve launched not one, but a total of three new models!

The first model is the VF3i.

This underbone, or “kapcai”, has the largest engine for its category. The liquid-cooled single cylinder reaches a displacement of 185 cc, and has four valves and a SOHC, and with these specifications the VF3i makes a total of 17.7 hp at 8500 rpm.

Getting the power from this Euro3 engine to the rear wheel there’s a 6-speed transmission.

SYM worked the aerodynamic of the VF3i designing sleek fairings that make it easy for this scooter to cut through the wind at higher speeds, while at the same time the rider can enjoy good protection from the wind, making it comfortable to ride over longer periods of riding. And precisely so that the rider doesn’t need to stop so many times while riding all day long, the VF3i has a big fuel tank, with 7 liters in capacity.

For those riders that want to feel the adrenaline of riding the SYM VF3i at a more aggressive pace, the Taiwanese brand focused on installing better chassis components, so the VF3i has telescopic front forks that allow the front wheel to travel 80 mm, while at the back a single shock absorber allows a wheel travel of 32 mm.

But the VF3i not only runs fast, but it also stops fast! The braking system includes brake discs both in front and back wheel, and SYM opted to use oversized discs with 250 mm and 200 mm sizes respectively.

With just 124 kg of weight, the VF3i should be fast and really fun to ride. Click here to see the VF3i in action!

As for equipment, the rider will enjoy the added safety from the new LED DRL lights at the front, while the rest of the lights are also in LED, with special attention to the rear lamp with a sporty design. Speaking of design, one final note to speak about the dashboard. It mixes analog and digital displays, and all the information is shown in an easy to read way.

Coming in Red, Blue or the special edition Matte Black, MForce announced that the price of the SYM VF3i is RM7988 for the standard versions while the special edition comes in at a price of RM8288. This prices exclude GST and other fees.

The second new model introduced by SYM in Malaysia is the Jet14.

The Jet14 is the new model in the 125 cc SYM line-up

Following the latest tendencies in ergonomics and style, like the 3D LED rear stop light, this is a 125 cc scooter with a 4-stroke Euro4 single-cylinder engine, and the engine is air-cooled, so it produces 10 hp at 8500 rpm and maximum torque of 9.2 Nm at 7000 rpm, all of this transmitted to the rear wheel through a CVT transmission.

The Jet14 has that urban flavor which Is perfect for everyday use in the city, and the flat platform gives this SYM a higher load capacity, not forgetting that under the seat, with differentiated spaces for rider and pillion, fits a full face helmet.

Telescopic forks and double absorbers at the back guarantee a smooth and yet sporty ride, and a 7,5 liters’ capacity fuel tank makes sure that the Jet14 is able to ride for longer periods without the need to fill up the gas.

SYM manufacturers the Jet14 in Red, Blue and White colors, and MForce announced that the price for this scooters is RM6688, a value excluding GST and other fees.

The last of the three new models SYM is introducing in the Malaysian market is the CRUiSYM 250i.

This scooter reinforces the position of SYM in the ever popular 250 to 300 cc category, with some special attributes that will fit perfectly to riders that need to go anywhere and go fast! With a sporty look, the CRUiSYM 250i is well equipped and has enough space to transport rider and pillion with comfort.

The SYM CRUiSYM 250i will surely be the center of attentions while riding in town!

The engine is a fuel injected single-cylinder with 249,4 cc. Being liquid cooled and having a CVT transmission to transmit power to the back wheel, the CRUiSYM accelerates fast and hard coming from traffic lights, and with no less than 12 liters in the fuel tank this scooter from SYM will be able to cover long distances without a problem.

Details like the carbon look panels or the big intake entrances at the front, where we can see also a dual headlight with LED lights, guarantee that the CRUiSYM has that sporty and aggressive look, and when you couple that with the folding mirrors, the 3D stop light in LED, the air vent at both sides, gloves box, USB ports or the 12V charger, not to mention adjustable windscreen and 40 to 45-degree ergonomic footboard, it’s clear that SYM didn’t spare efforts in making this scooter well equipped for its price range.

And speaking of price, MForce says that the CRUiSYM 250i retails for RM18.888 the standard version, while the Special Edition retails for RM19.188. All these prices exclude GST and other fees.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
